Another warm Saturday parkrun. ☀️☀️☀️

Big thanks to RD Steve and the volunteers today that made sure 131 got round the course safely.

Don’t forget if you are out in this weather to make sure you hydrate just like our little cygnet does.

It’s National Volunteers week from 1st June - if you’d like to grab your favourite role (or try it for the first time) don’t forget to let us know!

There are many ways to let us know you want to volunteer - via the parkrun app, direct email or just talk to us at parkrun!

We’re working hard to shuffle the roster but as it stands we have no barcode scanners so we won’t be able to record your attendance.

We normally like to have at least one non running scanner and keep our fingers crossed that some of those that are speedier will also help.

If you’ve never scanned before this fun video explains exactly how easy it is - let us know if you can help.

Barcode scanning is a fun volunteer role that anyone can try. But can you do it blindfolded?!This short video explains everything you need to know if you're ...

Swans are quite good at marshalling their cygnets but less good at marshalling parkrunners otherwise we’d sign them up.

We have a number of roles available this Saturday (which is looking like it will still be a lovely day).

Marshal x 3
Timekeeper x 2
Finish tokens x 2
Scanners x 2

Please do let us know if you can help.

Record post Covid attendance of 211. Visitors fromNew Zealand, Northolt, Newcastle, Boston , Crane and Alice Holt.

Thanks to RD Karen and her volunteer team. The results needed a little bit of wrangling today and are “as good as it gets” and should be with you now.

Don’t forget to opt in to get our emails so you can make sure you get your favourite volunteer roles in future weeks.

A reminder please (as well as hydrating and not going mad in the heat) to also park prettily (or given the clement weather to think about cycling or car sharing).

The start of half term and good weather will see lots of parkusers and not just parkrun people so we need everyone to park in a way that maximises space and would allow an emergency vehicle to get through!

Well I don’t think we could say it any better than our chums at Bromley!

We are still looking for a marshal, a pre event trolley puller and help in all roles on the finish funnel.

If you want the parkrun fun but without the “run” please do let us know if you can help.

It’s going to be quite warm at parkrun tomorrow, so please think about these three points.

Hydrate. Make sure you have water with you and have drunk some before you run

Speed. Consider taking your run/walk a bit easier by reducing your pace. It’s not a day to go for a personal best.

Burning. Consider applying sunscreen and wearing a hat.

Anyone rolling their eyes at this “obvious” advice might like to know that it is based on incidents our volunteers have experienced over 16 years / 780 events. 🙂
