Autumn is well and truly with us and the park is beautiful on these October parkrun mornings! 🍂🍃

If your preference is to volunteer for your parkrun fix during this season, or you haven’t got round to trying a new role / your favourite role, we have some great opportunities this weekend and for future events.

We welcomed 112 runners and walkers today to Bedfont Lakes parkrun - thank you all so much for enjoying the sunshine with us.

As our Event Director Jo mentioned at the start, we are fundraising for some walkie talkies which will help us to communicate amongst our volunteers to deliver a safe event for you all every week, if you are in a position to donate, we would be very thankful: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/bedfont/aboutus/

Thanks for joining us today on parkrun’s 22nd anniversary.

We had to take the very difficult decision to cancel mid-event due to a serious accident on the course. The parkrunner affected was treated by paramedics and we wish her all the best once she’s out of hospital.

We appreciate you may be disappointed, but there is always next time to get your parkrun fix. We absolutely prioritise health, safety and wellbeing every time we put the hi-viz on.

Thanks to everyone who helped and co-operated - we have an amazing community 💙

Happy birthday to us 🎂

22 years ago, it all started with one event in Bushy Park, 13 finishers and five volunteers.

Today, nearly 13 million people are registered across more than 3,000 locations worldwide 🤯

What a journey it’s been 🧡

It’s parkrun’s 22nd anniversary on Saturday! 🎈

In all that time, some things haven’t changed one bit, like the need for wonderful volunteers. 🫶🏼

For this week’s event we are still seeking a trolley puller (before and after - doesn’t have to be the same person), finish funnel token support, first timer’s welcome and another marshal.

Please let us know if you can help, via email [email protected] or in the comments.

We’ll be celebrating parkrun’s *22nd anniversary* this weekend and hope you’ll be joining us. 🎈

Wearing a tutu (22..two-two) is optional and encouraged…

… but we can’t “skirt” around the fact we need an amazing team of volunteers!

Please check the roster and let us know which role you’d like to sign up for.

Congratulations to all 127 finishers and 30 volunteers who joined us on this lovely late September morning.

We were pleased to welcome visitors from Jersey and Horsham (and if you didn’t shout out in the brief but would like to now give us a hello in the comments).

We also welcomed 6 parkrun debutants - thank you for choosing Bedfont Lakes and we hope you’ll be back.

As it was pacer week there were lots of PBs as well so thank you them, RS Jo and the team of this weeks Volunteers for looking out for everyone:

Talking of volunteers - Mark Jones celebrated his 50th volunteering stint. Thanks Mark for all your efforts!

Next week - it’s parkrun’s 22 anniversary - feel free to wear a tutu if you like!
