We want to offer a massive 'Thank you!' to Nat for sending us these beautiful hedgehog pictures! :D Nat's message was full of enthusiasm: "Just to share following your recent post about hedgehog boxes we live in Felixstowe and we have 2 hedgehog houses in our garden that are occupied and have hedgehogs visit us every evening we always leave out fresh water and food for them. We love to see them. A couple of weeks ago took this picture mumma hog and 2 hoglets how amazing! :D

If you don't have all the tools and wood which are featured in this video, don't worry. If you help your neighbours to build their hedgehog homes, you might be able to borrow their tools and wood. We mention that idea because we're encouraging everyone in the Felixstowe area to develop Hedgehog Streets ie entire streets where neighbours all help each other to support local hedgehog populations.

In the 1950s, there were about 30 million hedgehogs in the UK. Today, there are about 1 million. Most of that decline has been over the last decade.
With that rate of decline, what do you think the chances are of your grand children, nieces or nephews seeing a hedgehog in the wild... unless we start to do something now?
It's an uncomfortable situation for us all, isn't it. But now there are signs of hope. There's no room for complacency, so we need to work together! Will you help us, please?

Throughout the whole of September, we're going to encourage everyone in Felixstowe to do as much as possible to help local hedgehogs. In particular, we want to encourage neighbours to work together to create hedgehog-friendly streets in Felixstowe to help our hedgehogs.

Hedgehog Street is the only national hedgehog conservation campaign: it involves thousands of volunteers and has been based in the UK since 2011.
