5 Yoga Myths BUSTED 🧘‍♀️🌿

There are a lot of misconceptions about yoga that stop people from trying it, Let’s clear a few up 👇

1. “You have to be flexible to do yoga”
False. Flexibility is something yoga helps you build, not a requirement to start. It also doesn’t have to be the aim of your practice!

2. “Yoga is just stretching”
Not quite. Yoga builds strength, balance, breath awareness, and mental clarity, it’s a full mind-body practice.

3. “You need fancy clothes or equipment”
Nope. A mat or towel and comfortable clothing is more than enough, especially in the park!

4. “Yoga is only boring, slow and easy”
Yoga can be gentle OR strong and dynamic. It’s creative, fun, flowy, and it meets you exactly where you are. Come and see for yourself!

5. “I won’t fit in”
Yoga is for everybody. Every age, every body, every level. Community yoga is literally about showing up as you are 💚

If any of these myths have ever held you back, consider this your sign to give it a go. We are going to have a warm & sunny one this weekend! 🌞

What if your Sunday morning looked a little slower? ☁️✨

Imagine starting the day with fresh air, birdsong, church bells, gentle movement, and a community of lovely humans all coming together to move, breathe, and reset.

That’s the magic of Park Yoga 💚

You don’t need to be “good” at yoga.
You don’t need fancy clothes or experience.
You just need yourself, a mat or towel, and a willingness to show up.

Park Yoga is for everyone… whether you want to build strength, find calm, meet new people, or simply spend more time outdoors.

Come as you are. Leave feeling lighter 🧘

There’s something so special about practicing yoga outdoors 🌿✨

The fresh air, the sound of the trees, the warmth of the sun (most of the time…), the feeling of the earth beneath you…nature has a way of grounding us and bringing us back to the present moment.

Practicing yoga in nature can help:
🧘 Reduce stress and anxiety
☀️ Boost mood and energy
🌿 Deepen mindfulness and connection
💨 Improve focus through fresh air and open space
✨ Create a sense of calm and balance

Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is step outside, breathe deeply, and move mindfully.

Join us in the park and experience it for yourself… every pose is optional, just take what you need and enjoy some time for yourself 💚

Every Sunday until September, 9:30am at Town Park, Faringdon 📍

💚 Do you thrive on engaging with individuals, are passionate about your local community and love being outside in nature?

💚 Do you have availability this summer to volunteer for Park Yoga, Sunday mornings from 9am until 11am? (No previous yoga experience required).

💚 If you answered YES, this could be a fantastic opportunity for you to meet new people whilst bringing joy and happiness to your local community.

Get to know Park Yoga 💚

It’s almost time for our first EVER Park Yoga Faringdon session, this Sunday at 9:30am! 🥳

Ahead of this, we thought it would be good to answer some FAQs and share a bit more about what Park Yoga is:

1️⃣ What is Park Yoga?
Park Yoga is a charity that provides yoga sessions on Sunday mornings from May to September, across the UK, to improve the health and wellbeing of participants.

2️⃣ What is Park Yoga’s mission?
Our mission is to improve physical and mental wellbeing by introducing the transformative benefits of yoga in nature, fostering joy, connection, and a deep sense of community 🌟

3️⃣ Can I donate to Park Yoga?
Park Yoga will always be free to attend, but we love it if people donate if they're able to as this helps us continue to provide free outdoor yoga in nature to more people in more places. You can donate via our website, or through your instructor after your Park Yoga sessions on Sundays.

4️⃣ Who can come to Park Yoga?
Park Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, background and ability. We want as many people as possible to be able to experience the benefits!* You don’t even have to participate in the whole session, just take some moments of rest & movement whenever you feel like it.
* If you are under the care of a medical professional, you should discuss with them before attending Park Yoga. The same applies if you are pregnant, or have other specific medical concerns.

5️⃣ Can I bring my children?
Park Yoga is for all the family, however the practice is not children’s yoga. Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent/carer and near them at all times, as they remain your responsibility.

6️⃣ What do I need to bring?
Bring a yoga mat if you have one, or just a towel/blanket! Make sure to have water and anything you need for comfort, like sun cream. You can wear something that is comfortable to move and stretch in!

7️⃣ If the weather is bad, how do I know if the session is going ahead?
We will post on the page at least 1 hour ahead of start time to cancel a session in case of bad weather. This is also fed through onto the website for those who do not use social media.

🌳 We're thrilled to welcome Park Yoga Faringdon this season.

📅 Sessions are an hour and start at 9.30am on 3rd May and run every Sunday morning for 20 weeks.

💚 If you have not experienced Park Yoga, it is a great way to try yoga for the first time. You don’t have to take part in the whole session, many people take moments of rest and enjoy the fresh air while watching the clouds go by.

💚 There's no need to book.

💚 Bring a yoga mat if you have one, but if you don’t, a towel or blanket is perfect.
