Deer Trivia: Mythical White Deer
White stags appear throughout mythology and many cultures. Killing a white deer was often considered very unlucky.

In Celtic myths, white deer were other-worldly messengers whose appearance could change lives, for good or bad. In Arthurian legend, the uncatchable white stag symbolises mankind’s continual quest for knowledge, a theme echoed in The Chronicles of Narnia, where the White Stag is said to grant wishes to whoever catches it.

Ethical and humane management. Wild and free foraging. Never saw the inside of a transportation vehicle or an abattoir and never even heard the shot. Deer Trivia: Steep Holm Muntjac
In January 1977, three male and one female muntjac were released on Steep Holm, a rugged and now uninhabited island of approximately 50 acres in the Bristol Channel. Despite the island's habitat being less than ideal, the deer managed to survive and breed.

They continue to exist in small numbers and share the island with other wildlife, including seals and seabirds. Visits to Steep Holm are possible via a restricted ferry service from Weston-super-Mare or Cardiff, but advance booking is essential.
