Why are we crowdfunding again? (And why we really need your help!)
Over the last six months, I’ve had to work from home while looking after my autistic daughter, who has been unable to attend school due to severe anxiety.
Thankfully, our wonderful team of volunteers and cookery tutors have kept all our activities going, and I’m incredibly grateful to them. But it has meant a drop in income, as we’ve had to run our lunch club less often and I haven’t been able to organise any special events.
On the plus side, I’ve had plenty of time at home to write funding bids, and we’ve been fortunate enough to secure several grants! However, most of these are project-specific, which means they can’t be used to cover our everyday running costs, such as rent and bills.
Our lease comes to an end in May 2027, and sadly, we’ve decided not to extend it. Over the next six months, we want to focus on organising as many cooking sessions and other activities as possible, while also finding a new home for our community fridge and other projects.
To do this, we need enough money in the bank to cover our essential costs without having to spend the next six months applying for yet more grants. We also need a bit of a financial cushion to cover any costs that might arise after the food hub closes.
So, why are we crowdfunding again? Because we still have six months of good things we want to do, and we need your help to make them happen!
We’ve already raised over £1,000, but we need to reach our £5,000 target in the next 19 days. That means we need at least 100 more supporters.
