Welcome to this service recorded at South Street Baptist Church, Exeter on Sunday 23rd August, 2026. This week, we welcome the Revd Hannah Alderson to lead our worship and reflection. Hannah is an Anglican minister and great friend of the church. For the last ten years she has been the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Exeter and is about to become the Rector of St Thomas parish in our city.

Hannah looks at the story of Jesus asking his followers who he is and their perception of his calling. Hannah uses the story to help us reflect on our own image of Jesus and to recognise that his divinity is seen in his brokenness as well as glory.

Hannah uses a couple of images in her first talk. The image of the laughing Jesus can be seen at https://thebrokenrunne...

The image of the angry Christ can be seen at https://touristangpobr...

Welcome to this service recorded at South Street Baptist Church in Exeter on Sunday 26th July, 2026. The service is led by our minister Simon.

This week, we conclude the Holy Habits Discipleship series based on Acts 2.42-47 that we have been using for last few years. The series explores ten holy habits seen in the life of the Early Church. Simon reminds us of these habits and recognises that they call us as disciples of Jesus to a life with difference, to a life centred on God and to a life with sharing at the heart.

Simon reflects that when we live out these habits, we express our love for God and love for one another. When we focus on loving as God loves, then we draw others to the light of God seen in Jesus.

The service includes:
Welcome and Call to Worship
Hymn Your hand O God has guided
Opening Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
First Reading: Acts 2.37-47
Song Bless the Lord O my soul
Second Reading Mark12.28-34
Sermon Holy Habits for Discipleship
Offering and Dedication
Hymn Sent by the Lord
Sermon The Priority of Love
Hymn Brother, sister let me serve you
Prayers of Intercession
Hymn Will you come and follow me
Blessing

Our closing music is played by Hilary, one of our musicians.
