18th West Kent Boys Brigade A Christian youth organisation for boys and girls

The 18th West Kent Boys' Brigade & Girls' Association are part of the West Kent Battalion.Monday evenings involve a mixture of badge classes, games & sports. Members work towards badges that are awarded at the enrolment service each year.The program mixes both traditional activities such as band, drill and figure marching, with other more contemporary activities including cooking, artwork, life skills and sports.

One of our Community projects this year was to raise at least 101 non-perishable items for our local Foodbank — 101 items to celebrate the 18th West Kent being 101 years old this year.

We’re very pleased to announce that not only did we reach our target, but we smashed it by collecting around 120 items!

A huge thank you goes to all our supporters, parents, church members and friends who helped make this achievement possible.

We were also delighted that Kate Harris from Bexley Foodbank kindly agreed to collect the donations, and we’re pleased to share a couple of the photos taken on the day.

This week we had a theme of Tents and Tepees. It all started with a short Devotions with our invited Minister, Andrew White. Then our Company Section who have entered the Waltham Walk needed practice putting up their tents and not to be outdone, the Anchors thought they’d have a go with putting up a Tepee. Tonight the children learned about the importance of this coming week (Easter) and did a Palm Sunday activity with the Anchors.
We also made some ginger bread rabbits (or at least that’s what they were supposed to look like!!)

Yesterday saw 2 of our Seniors attend the London District Awards day at City Hall, the home of the Mayor of London. They received Jack Petchey awards and also we won a Community Impact award.
This was followed by a trip on the IFS Cloud cable car and lunch at Nando’s in the O2 Arena.
