🌍✨ What a fantastic week for World Groove CIC! ✨🌍

As part of Refugee Week, we were delighted to work alongside the Friday Get Together at Reading University bringing together international students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

The session was filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and the sharing of recipes from different continents and cultures. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and it was wonderful to see participants exchanging stories, traditions, and ideas while learning from one another.

At World Groove CIC we believe that community is built through understanding, inclusion, and celebrating the richness that different cultures bring. Events like these remind us that despite our different journeys, we have so much to learn from each other and so much in common.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped create such a warm, welcoming, and inspiring atmosphere.

🎶 World Groove CIC – Community Connections Through Music 🎶

We are delighted to share that World Groove CIC has recently begun delivering music and cultural engagement sessions for older adults, thanks to funding support from the Community Fund.

Our first session was a wonderful experience. It was a pleasure to meet so many amazing people, and we were warmly welcomed with smiles, enthusiasm, and a genuine sense of community.

The energy, stories, and participation from everyone involved made the session truly special.
At World Groove CIC, we believe that music has the power to bring people together, improve wellbeing, spark memories, and create meaningful social connections. We are therefore pleased to have committed to returning on a monthly basis to continue building these relationships and sharing the joy of music and culture.

We would like to thank the Community Fund for investing in community wellbeing and helping make opportunities like this possible.

We look forward to many more memorable sessions ahead.

What a fantastic World Groove CIC Creative Networking session!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, connected, shared ideas, and helped create such a positive atmosphere. It was inspiring to see creatives, community groups, and organisations coming together to support one another and build stronger connections within Reading’s creative community.

Special thanks to Najwa and her team from Refugee Support Group for delivering such an engaging and interactive session on bid writing and funding. The discussions, ideas, and participation in the room were brilliant.

Big appreciation as well to David Berry from Holiday Inn Reading-South M4, JCT.11
for speaking about supporting local artists, collaboration, and creating opportunities through venues and partnerships.

A special thank you to Paul Raymond who kindly stepped in at short notice for our “Shine a Light on Creatives” feature and shared insights into traditional Arabic instruments and his creative journey.

And of course, a massive shout out to Progress Theatre for hosting us every single time and always supporting creatives and community initiatives. Please check out their social media pages as they have some exciting events coming up soon!

We would also like to encourage all creatives, artists, organisations, and community groups to join us again on the 10th of September for another Creative Networking gathering. Come connect, energise one another, collaborate, and discuss the important issues we need to tackle together in order to develop and strengthen our work.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Statement on the Postponement of World Groove Festival

It’s with a heavy heart that we share this news: World Groove Festival, originally scheduled for Saturday 27th September 2025 at Reading Minster, will be postponed until further notice.

Despite the incredible energy and passion behind this event — from the artists, the team, and our community — lower-than-expected pre-sale numbers, combined with the realities of being a fully self-funded festival, mean we have not reached the minimum financial target required to proceed with confidence this year.

This was not an easy decision. Every detail of this festival — especially the line-up — was curated with care and intention. We truly believed this would be a spectacular, spirit-lifting day for the town and a celebration of global music, community, and connection. To not share it with you all, at least for now, is heart-breaking.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who’s supported us so far — especially the phenomenal artists who believed in this vision, our volunteers, our partners, and everyone who bought a ticket or helped spread the word. Your support means more than we can say, and as a gesture of goodwill, we’ll still be awarding our raffle prize as planned — we’ll be announcing and contacting the winner shortly.

If you’ve already bought a ticket, you’ll be contacted shortly regarding a full refund.

This is a postponement — not a goodbye. We still believe in this festival’s power to bring people together, and we’re exploring ways to make it happen in the future, with the right support behind it.
