Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar - Cheshire Settlement

Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar - Cheshire Settlement We are the Cheshire settlement, an extension of "Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar" established in Blackpool 2024.

03/06/2026

After much thought and consideration, we have come to the decision that the time has come for us, the Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar - Cheshire Settlement to withdraw from the Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar name.

This decision has not been made lightly, it has involved a considerable amount of thought, and feelings. We, The Cheshire Settlement, hold no animosity, negativity, or bad feelings, at all, against anyone involved with Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar. We wish them nothing but success and happiness moving forward, and will continue to support and cheer them on from the sidelines.

We would like to publicly thank Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar, for the time we have spent together, for the support and successes we shared together, and for the great friendships and relationships that were formed and made stronger through the Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar name.

Much love and best wishes to all x

Some of you reading this will already know, Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar is a Viking reenactment group that was originally formed in Blackpool in Feb 2024.
In July 2024, 1 of the founding members moved back to their hometown, Ellesmere port, with their family. It was then decided that rather than give up on something we are passionate about and dedicated to, we would start up a Cheshire settlement.
We've spent months upon months working behind the scenes, slowly working towards securing a location for new local members to join us for Viking reenactment combat training (combat training sessions do currently take place outdoors). We have also been crafting some of our own equipment, such as our own wooden combat training swords and shields and Viking reenactment living history items, the current favourite is lanterns.
We are hoping that our settlement will bring together a group of like minded people, that share an interest in any and all things Viking. We plan to hold at least 2 get togethers month, it could be 2 combat training sessions, or 1 combat training and 1 crafting session each month. Details to be confirmed in the near future.

If you're still reading this post, we haven't completely bored you. So, if we have piqued your curiosity and you want to know more, feel free to drop a message, through Facebook or email. Also, we do have an Instagram account, so check it out/give it a follow for more updates and photos of what we get up to. (Email address and Instagram account name are in the picture below)

Had to get the gazebo out today! The weather could not make it's mind up!
So, another day bonding through crafting our own equipment.
Have a look through the photos below to see the process, and if you make it to the end you'll see what we've managed to get done....
*Spoiler*
- 4 lantern frames - 3 hand axes - 3 wooden training swords (for non/light contact)
And we started another shield!
Was great having Dominic Griffiths with us today! Him and αš¨αšΎα›žαš±α›–αšΉ αšΉαšΊα›–α›–α›šαšΉαš±α›αš·αšΊα› got proper stuck in, and he even made his first ever lantern, which he finished in time to take home with him!

Hi, I'm Braxs.

I've been an active Viking reenactor for roughly 5 years, but my passion for all things Viking really ignited more than a decade ago.

I have a widespread background in various martial arts. Over my 35+ years in the martial arts industry I have been trained by and alongside a number of Masters and Senseis. My experiences and knowledge in this area are what drive my interests in Viking Combat Reenactment. My grab and go are definitely sword and shield, but I'm not the type to stick to just one weapon or style. How ever I can get stuck in, I'm happy.

I like to think I'm pretty well clued up on the Viking lifestyle. I'm always up for talks/discussions, and the occasional debate. I'm a creative thinker and always have ideas to share, whether it's about trying something new in our Viking combat training, or a different perspective related more to the living history side of Viking reenactment.

I'm outgoing, fun loving and could talk your ear off, so I can't wait to meet more like minded people.

Hi, I'm Danni

I'm fairly new to the Viking re-enactment community.

I've been part of Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar since it formed in Blackpool in Feb 2024.
I tend to stay behind the scenes, but will, on occasion, grab a shield and swing a sword when one of our combat instructors has a new idea or move they want to try out on someone of a beginner experience level.
I feel I'm best suited in the roles of organising, presenting, and supporting.

As someone who can't throw themselves into a shieldwall, I know and understand that there is more to Viking reenactment than "just" combat training. The Blackpool settlement aim to meet every other week, and no two get togethers are ever the same. One week could be more focused on combat training, while the next might be aimed more towards the living history side of reenactment, for example a session on tablet weaving or another craft/life skill, and we in the Cheshire settlement have high hopes to have a similar all round approach, so that any and all are able to be as involved as they would like. Personally, I'm hoping to explore and expand my culinary knowledge and skills, everyone needs a good meal after a hard days work.

Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar understand that everyone is unique, with their own strengths, abilities and challenges, in all aspects of life, and so before all else, we want you to feel welcome, safe, seen and heard.
From our own experiences we have seen, lived and supported each other through many different challenges, be it physical, mental, within the group, or one to one.
We also understand that as a unique individual, your life events will also vary and differ from other members, and because of this we aim to be supportive, and adaptable when it comes to planning and carrying out meetings, activities, and events.

Within our group we have many differences and variations when it comes to skill sets, levels of knowledge, and general abilities, but one thing we all share equally is the belief that everyone should feel welcome and safe, whether that's as a new member of our group, an experienced reenactor, or someone who just wants to pop by and sneak a peak or ask a question.

So, if you have any questions or fancy a chat, feel free to get in touch. πŸΊβš”οΈπŸ”΅

Hi, my name is Andy, this is my 5th year being involved in viking reenactment.
In February 2024, myself and 4 close friends came together and formed Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar, in Blackpool.
In the summer of 2024 myself and my little family relocated to Cheshire, with plans of expanding Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar with a Cheshire settlement, where we can continue to live out our love for all things Viking, with local like minded people.

My main passion is Viking combat. The Blackpool settlement have regular combat training sessions, of which I was a combat instructor, typically demonstrating and teaching axe fighting techniques.

I do also enjoy the living history side of Viking life too, especially woodwork. Since Ulf Drengr Af Einherjar was formed I have crafted various items, such as; Chairs, Axes, Lanterns, and we as a group even had some bonding and team building where we got together and started making our own shields. I am currently working on plans for a wooden chest and a bed, which I hope to use for the living history side of our ventures.

I am really looking forward to meeting and getting to know any and all like minded people, who are interested in any aspect of Viking life. Whether you see yourself as a warrior, craftsperson, or even if you are just a tad curious, feel free to get in touch, I'd love to answer any questions you may have, or even just have a chat.
