Insulated copper cable processed at Bourne ⚡

Electrical cable is stripped to recover copper wire.

PVC and rubber insulation is removed mechanically, separating copper conductor from polymer waste.

The copper is then graded by purity and prepared for processing.

Cable processing recovers valuable copper while managing insulation as separate waste streams.

Stainless steel fabrication offcuts and industrial components. 🔩

Machined parts, brackets, and structural elements are segregated by stainless grade where possible. Material is prepared for specialist stainless steel remelters who produce new stainless products for industrial and architectural applications.

Stainless steel maintains its properties indefinitely through repeated recycling. ♻️

Non-ferrous material recovery at Bourne

After shredding, separation technology isolates valuable non-ferrous metals from mixed feedstock. Polished Zorba (aluminium-rich shredded material) and copper armatures are extracted, graded, and prepared for onward processing or export.

Material recovery at this level requires precision equipment and operational control. Eddy current separators, density sorting, and manual grading ensure that ferrous, non-ferrous, and residual streams are separated to specification.

The value in metal recycling isn’t just in handling volume – it’s in extracting and grading what others discard. Copper, aluminium, and specialist alloys command different pricing based on purity and form. Recovery precision directly impacts commercial performance.

Bourne processes the material. Immingham exports it. One operation.

Mixed engine feedstock at Bourne

End-of-life vehicle engines awaiting processing through our Danieli shredder operation. This is the raw material that enters the facility before separation, grading, and recovery.

Enicor’s two Danieli shredders at Bourne have the capacity to process approximately 500 tonnes of raw material per day. Engines contain recoverable ferrous and non-ferrous metals – steel, aluminium, copper – that are extracted, graded to specification, and prepared for domestic and international markets.

Volume determines viability. Processing at this scale requires the infrastructure, technical capability, and market access to handle complex material streams efficiently.

Last night, our Bourne location welcomed for a training session. Bourne’s Fire crew manager requested a challenge, so we set up a RTA scene. We are proud to support Lincs fire and thank them for their work in our local community.

The hub on Hereford Street, Sheffield, is the first stop for the ScrapBall Rally team. The hub helps fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on local people with holistic support. The team guide those who need it with paying bills, basic skills for food and cooking, attending medical appointments and school enrolments.

Here’s our brilliant Regional Community Fundraising Manager, Ellie Tomlin, encouraging donations outside of the Sheffield hub for this excellent cause.

George Dones, Operations Manager , picked up our third and final car as part of the ScrapBall Rally fundraiser for . The team of nine heads off on the road to Rome on Thursday 13th March.

George says: “This car might have once been luxury, but its had a rough life after being sat in a farmer’s field for two years. Two keys - one that only works in the ignition, and another that only works to unlock it. Let’s hope we don’t lose one.” ☺️

“With 97,000 miles on the clock and German built, it’s a safer bet than the other two. However, it did have a trip to the garage within 24 hours of picking it up. Will any of us make it?” 😳
