TWO DAYS TO GO! 🙌 Meet another one of our fantastic makers taking part in the Festive Fair this Saturday - Rachel Ashton Art! 👋

💬 'I am an Aberdeenshire based artist. I draw, write, make ceramics and music and have been painting for 30 years.

My work is colourful and varied and explores the local landscape, flora and fauna, often with ecological, bacterial and bodily undertones!

I was on Portrait Artist of the year 2014 and have won several prizes including the Dundee Contemporary Arts award and the Freelands Painting Prize (both in 2022).

I'll have some original paintings, drawings, prints, and cards for sale, plus some ceramics and handmade books.'

Maker announcement! 📣✨ We're delighted to share that Erin Matheson Art is joining us for our Festive Fair on Sat 22 November!

💬 'Hello! I’m Erin Matheson, an artist living and creating in the Scottish Highlands. My paintings are inspired by the everyday — the objects we gather, fill our spaces with, and what they say about us.

Since graduating from Moray School of Art at UHI Moray in 2023, I’ve been building my career as an artist, working mainly in oil paint to explore our connection with the ordinary moments of life.'

💬 'Hi, I’m Emma. Working in a variety of media and forms my work currently focuses on ceramics pieces.
Since graduating I’ve been trying to find what brings me joy to create and my favourite subject matter is my pets.
My work currently focuses on pets such as cats and rabbits, bringing whimsy to the domestic.'

💬 'I'm a mixed-media wildlife artist. My technique is a little unusual.

Having been a traditional realist painter and portrait artist for 20+ years, I now embrace the unknown.

I play with paint and then find animals in the random marks I've made.

Using my previous experience, I bring out enough details to allow the creatures to emerge whilst retaining the energy and vibrancy of the original paint marks.

I never know what's going to turn up on my canvas.'
