Wonderful news from Glaslyn, where one of our 2022 chicks (2H4) has successfuly hatched her second chick of the season. 🥰 Many thanks to Jeff Kear for sending us the update.

Rydyn ni wedi derbyn newyddion gwych gan Steve Roberts, sy'n monitro'r nyth Gweilch y pysgod yn Sir Fynwy, lle cafodd Glas 497 (Glaslyn 2022, o nythaid olaf Mrs G ac Aran) a Glas 2H4 (Rutland 2022) ymgais bridio cyntaf aflwyddiannus y llynedd.

Mae'r pâr wedi dychwelyd eleni, a deorodd eu cyw cyntaf ar ddydd Iau, 28 Mai, a daeth y newyddion neithiwr fod yr ail gyw wedi deor a bod gobaith y bydd trydydd cyw ar y nyth cyn bo hir!

Diolch yn fawr i Steve am rannu'r ddelwedd hon o'r pâr a'r newyddion ardderchog 'ma gyda ni. Rydym yn fawr obeithio y bydd eleni yn flwyddyn dda.

We have received some wonderful news from Steve Roberts, who monitors the Osprey nest in Monmouthshire where Blue 497 (Glaslyn 2022, from Mrs G and Aran's last brood) and Blue 2H4 (Rutland 2022) had an unsuccessful first breeding attempt last season.

Both birds have returned this year and their first chick hatched on Thursday 28 May, and we received news last night that the second chick had hatched, and there is hope of a third before long!

Thank you to Steve for sharing this image of the pair and the fantastic news. We hope that everything goes well this year.

As the chicks keep growing, so does their appetite! This morning Maya and 33 were both on hand to feed those hungry beaks.

Its mostly Maya who feeds the chicks so we were delighted to see them both feeding at the same time. What a dream team!

Yesterday afternoon, there was an unringed female Osprey intruding around the Manton Bay nest for more than half an hour. After being chased away by Maya, she settled on the famous 'Cormorant Tree', near Waderscrape hide. Stuart Wilson captured these fabulous shots.

Our main Osprey hide at Manton Bay is reached by a lovely walk from our visitor centre at Lyndon, a little over half a mile away. There are two trails you can take to the various hides, one of which has recently been upgraded and is perfect to follow should you need to use a mobility scooter. If you don't have your own, we now have a choice of two available to hire, for a very small fee over the cost of the reserve access permit.

If you would like to use one of our scooters in the future, please call the Lyndon Visitor Centre in advance on 01572 737378 to book one. We look forward to seeing you!

Earlier today, whilst taking photographs of the peregrines in nearby Stamford, Stuart Wilson spotted an Osprey, carrying a fish, over the town's Red Lion Square! There's a metal BTO ring on the left leg, but any Darvic ring, if there is one, is obscured by its bounty. Did anyone else spot this and have any other angles?
