During Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re proud to highlight the impact a Bank of Scotland Foundation grant is having through our support of Western Isles Association for Mental Health (WIAMH) 💙

Thanks to an unrestricted Energise grant, WIAMH can continue providing safe, welcoming, community based support for people with lived experience of mental health challenges.

Rebecca Mahony, WIAMH’s Project Manager, shared:
“Our Catch 23 service has grown and flourished from very humble beginnings, and we remain a grass roots, community based, service user led organisation supporting anyone aged 16+ with lived experience of mental health issues. Since the pandemic, demand for our services has increased significantly, while securing sufficient funding has become increasingly challenging.

The two year Bank of Scotland Foundation Energise Grant has been a huge boost for WIAMH, particularly because it is unrestricted. This flexibility gives us the autonomy to direct funding where it is needed most, helping us retain our skilled and experienced staff and continue delivering a wide range of community based activities that support positive mental health and wellbeing.”
We’re proud to stand alongside WIAMH in building brighter futures across our communities.

We’re thrilled to announce that through Empower, our multi year grants programme, 17 incredible Scottish charities have been awarded a share of £4.25 million! 🎉

This year, we’ve strengthened Empower to back charities for the long term, extending the programme from three to five years and increasing funding from £150,000 to £250,000 per charity 🙌

Each charity will now receive £50,000 per year for five years in unrestricted funding, giving them the stability to plan ahead, retain staff and respond quickly as needs evolve 💛

Empower grants give charities the freedom to cover essentials, tackle challenges head on, and direct resources where they’re needed most, helping build stronger, more resilient communities across Scotland 🌱🤝

On , we’re proud to reflect on the impact a Bank of Scotland Foundation grant is having for autistic children and their families, through our support of Avalon Autism Parental Support & Respite Services 💙

🧩 Since 2017, Avalon has played a vital role in strengthening family wellbeing - creating safe, inclusive spaces where parents feel supported, connected and better equipped to navigate everyday challenges. Our two-year £20,000 Energise grant (£10,000 per year), has helped Avalon remove barriers that too often limit access for autistic families, enabling experiences that build confidence, reduce isolation and support positive family relationships.

Crucially, the funding has also invested in people and sustainability - supporting staff capacity and volunteer development so that this work can continue to make a lasting difference beyond the life of the grant.

We’re proud to stand alongside Avalon in building brighter futures for families across our communities 💙

We’re delighted to share that Bank of Scotland Foundation has been shortlisted for the 2026 Third Sector Business Charity Awards in the Corporate Foundation category 🎉

The shortlisting recognises our work following a record breaking year in 2025, during which we awarded our largest ever investment in communities across Scotland. Our focus on multi year, unrestricted funding continues to provide stability for charities, providing support for people living in vulnerable circumstances 🤝

At a time of rising demand and financial pressure across the Third Sector, our trust based, partnership approach is being increasingly recognised for its impact and integrity.

This recognition is also a testament to the strength of our partnership with our sole funder, Lloyds Banking Group, whose continued support enables us to stand alongside charities when it matters most 💙

We’re proud to see the impact of our work recognised at a national level and will keep you updated as the awards progress 🏆
