Yesterday we were at Firhill High School attending their careers event as part of the P7 transition. We spoke to pupils about how combining your skills with a passion can help you find a job in the charity sector. Pupils from Bonaly, Oxgangs, Pentland and Colinton Primary had to think like fundraisers and marketing colleagues to help us plan for our centenary celebrations next year.

It's World Book Day 📚
Today we had Errol Primary School to Lady Haig's Poppy Factory for a class trip to learn more about the work of Poppyscotland. All pupils enjoyed a tour and then took part in learning activities with the learning team. As it's World Book Day, we did a hidden cover activity where learners had to guess the front cover of one of our Book Club books, Flo of the Somme, based on hearing the blurb alone.
The the 4 closest drawings went home with a copy of Flo of the Somme each and a poppy pin badge. We also gifted both classes a full set of Book Club books to share in their classrooms. Happy World Book Day all!

It was a pleasure to be invited to participate in West Calder High School careers event for S1s. We spent the morning meeting around 200 S1s, telling them more about the work of Poppyscotland and what it is like to work for a charity from a learning and fundraising perspective. Thanks for having us!

"I loved Poppyscotland and how they were happy to answers my questions"

"I didn't know about the poppies but it was very interesting"

Are you a teacher? Do you know a young person who has done some fantastic poppy themed artwork?
Our 2024 learning competition - The Centenary Calendar - invites pupils P4-S4 to design a piece of artwork based on the theme 100 years of Lady Haig's Poppy Factory or The poppy as a symbol of remembrance. We will choose 12 winners to form the pages of a special 2026 calendar. Each winner will also receive a £50 voucher for their school, a trip to Lady Haig's Poppy Factory or a visit from Bud plus some other fantastic prizes.
