Corstorphine East and West Craigs Community Council

09/10/2026

It has been noted today that Tesco express Bughtlin Market shall no longer provide a bin outside their store due to recent fires at the side of the building & the flats close by, after raising concerns at our Quarterly meeting with Inspector Quentin Russell & the area commander Mandy Wilkinson who attended our last Community meeting police Scotland have informed the Community Council that two youths have been identified as responsible, one youth has been charged & both reported to the youth justice system.
We are greatful for the speed in which this was dealt with & shall continue to lias with Community police to address local issues.

Cycle safety post from police Scotland https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1dMDPWM1JX/

🚲 Cycle safely

We've recently seen an increase in bicycles being used on pavements and being ridden in an erratic or unsafe manner.

Whether you're cycling to work, school or simply enjoying a ride, please remember:

📣 Wear appropriate kit. It can help protect you if you fall or are involved in a collision.
📣 Be aware of your surroundings. Look out for pedestrians, vehicles and other road users.
📣 Follow the rules of the road. Use designated cycle paths where available and avoid riding on pavements unless permitted.
📣 Ride at a safe speed. Slow down around pedestrians, junctions and busy areas.
📣 Stay focused. Don't let phones or other distractions take your attention away from the road.
📣 Respect pedestrians. Give them plenty of space and remember that pavements are primarily for people walking.

A few simple steps can make a big difference.

Ride responsibly.

Saw a post earlier (not the pictures) about an Italian man trying to scam money from an older gentleman at Tesco by asking directions to Edinburgh Airport then offering watches in exchange for fuel or cash as he didn't have enough for the journey, might be innocent but if you want to know what's going on with all the anti social behavior & Police reaction plus local news & updates we have a community council meeting 7pm at East Craigs Church hall Wednesday 23rd Sept, perhaps your questions may well be answered.. hope to see you there.
