This September at Gomde Scotland, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche will lead a six-day seminar covering a number of topics especially precious to practitioners of Tara’s Triple Excellence along with bestowing empowerments.
What is an empowerment?
An empowerment is not merely a ritual. It is the opening of a sacred bond with an unbroken lineage of realization, connecting us to the current of blessings that has flowed from the primordial source through generations of enlightened masters, from Garab Dorje, the first human Dzogchen master, through Padmasambhava and the great masters of India and Tibet, down through Chokgyur Lingpa and Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, and now to us through Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche.
Each empowerment gives you full permission to practice its sadhana (liturgy) as you progress through the Third Excellence contemplations and teachings.
Outer: You may begin the contemplations of the Third Excellence without first receiving the Outer Tara empowerment, but you are required to receive the empowerment before starting your accumulations of the Outer Tara sadhana in the Third Excellence Module 1.
Inner: You can receive teachings on the Inner Tara sadhana, but the empowerment is also required in order to begin practicing it in the Third Excellence Module 2.
Rinpoche will also give teachings on The Five Companions, and the Tara ngöndro, a foundational set of practices to dissolve negative habits and build a strong basis of practice before moving on to more advanced practices. He will then give teachings on Mind Essence, or Dzogchen. and registration.
During the seminar, Rinpoche will bestow the Outer and Inner empowerments of Tara’s Profound Essence (Drolma Zabtik). The Outer empowerment is open to all, while the Inner empowerment is reserved for Tara’s Triple Excellence practitioners.
