Port Edgar Dragons We are a cancer survivor’s Dragon Boat Paddling Team based at Bridge 8 Hub on the Union Canal in Edinburgh and at Lochore Meadows Country Park in Fife.

Port Edgar Dragons - a group of cancer survivors and their supporters in the Edinburgh and Fife areas offering dragon boating as an aid to recovery from treatment. The team has been established with support from the Paddlers for Life dragon boat paddlers cancer survivor network. Dragon Boat paddling is a fun way to build health and wellbeing after a cancer diagnosis. We are predominantly breast cancer survivors. Saturday 3rd October a special day on our calendar.A day the dragons gather to remember those lost,those undergoing treatment and to remind others they are not alone in their cancer journey.
Each flower a symbol of a lovely soul no longer with us.
The sun shone,the breeze was light and as we looked at each other we thought “ITS A GOOD DAY”

How lovely it was to welcome new paddlers Sarah, Linzi , Jane and Katharine to a very blustery Union Canal on Saturday!
It was also fantastic to see Jane (Lindsey’s Mum) on board 💕
Superb helming from Petra and Flad in some challenging conditions!!! Also some brave drumming from Anne and Petra up on the wobbly seat!

Two of our KAB newbies Ally Cooper and Christy Maund-Lawson are on a trip to Scotland and had the incredible opportunity to meet and paddle with Port Edgar Dragons — Scotland’s only breast cancer dragon boat team! 🇨🇦🤝🏴

What a way to discover one of the most powerful things about this sport: you are never really alone. 💜

Different country. Different team. Different accents 😉… but the same dragon boat, the same shared experience, and that instant connection that happens when you’re surrounded by people who understand.

For our newest KAB members, what a wonderful introduction to the power of breast cancer dragon boating and the global community it creates. 🌎🐉

It’s time for change!
We want to say an enormous thank you to Pauline who has been our Chair for the last two years and organised us through our epic paddle along the whole of the Union Canal, participation in the Festival of Light flotilla and the IBCPC international event in Aix-Les-Bains as well as numerous other events over the last two years!❤️.
You have been amazing Pauline!!❤️
We also want to welcome Lindsey as our new chair - good luck Lindsey - we are sure you will also do an amazing job!!❤️

What an amazing experience we have had and what wonderful memories we are taking away with us ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Paddling on Lake Annecy was an amazing and beautiful experience (although the swell was quite something - well done to Sue at the helm for staying on board and to all the crew for listening and keeping paddling!!)
The first day of racing was sadly cancelled due to stormy rain and wind but the second day went ahead as planned with 200metre races and ended with an enormously moving flower ceremony🌸💕 we came 47th out of 150 teams (and someone said we were the fastest UK team!!!!)
The second day of racing was 1000m time trials including a turn at halfway - again hats off to Sue for keeping us safe and upright during the turn - some boats capsized 😳😵
The flower ceremony was incredibly moving and meaningful!

Enormous thanks to Ann and Pauline for organising us, to Sue for helming and to Lindsey for drumming (and shouting!!) as only Lindsey can and to Manchester Paddlers for Life for their warmth, friendliness and for welcoming us as part of Pink Albions

Sad news today (see below!)
However the organisers have pulled out all the stops to repair the damage and racing will go ahead as planned tomorrow (🤞🏻) and we have an extra day with 1000m time trials (with a turn😳) on Sunday to replace today’s events 🤩
A big thank you to the IBCPC France organising committee for keeping us safe and for responding so quickly to ensure that we don’t lose a day on the water 💕
