Since 2021, People's Parish has been driving meaningful change in communities across Scotland - and today, we're proud to launch its new look.

Meet Alison and Amy, the duo behind Deiseil: Dancing in Time 👞🎻

Alison and Amy first crossed paths as teenagers, learning stepdance and fiddle from Cape Breton dancers and musicians who travelled over to teach at summer schools in Scotland.
Decades on, they've developed a style all their own - a real-time conversation between dance and fiddle, responding to each others rhythm and phrasing in the moment.

For them, stepdance is a living, evolving tradition: rooted in the steps and tunes carried to Cape Breton long ago, and now finding new life back home in Scotland.

Alison and Amy recently wrote about their own journey with stepdance, from their first steps to why they're passionate about passing it on.

Next screening: Celebrating Jimmy Hutchison 📽️

Join us for the next screening of Trad Treasures: Jimmy Hutchison - a documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Scots and Gaelic singer and traditional handloom weaver Jimmy Hutchison. The film traces his musical journey, his role in preserving Scotland's traditional song heritage, and the people and places that shaped his remarkable career.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jimmy Hutchison himself, plus a live performance of traditional songs.

We're mid-way through an exciting chapter: a 3-year Creative Scotland-funded programme and a new role advising UNESCO on Intangible Cultural Heritage.
