hello all! It’s that time of year again to select a new committee for the coming academic year!
It will be held on the 26th of march at 5PM at the JN Crush area, a new discord channel has been set up to prepare for the AGM. If everyone could come along, cast your ballot or even stand for committee that would be great to keep the society running! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Our first event of the semester!

Join your committee and fellow students for a chill tea coffee and natter down at the wellbeing cottage (being the GRID)

I want to start by saying thank you, thank you to all of you lovely members of this fantastic society who have welcomed me with open arms. I will be forever grateful to have had you there to guide me on my personal journey of self love and acceptance of my sexuality. I am proud to have been the wellbeing officer and the president but sadly all good things must come to an end.

I have decided to leave Heriot-Watt, take a year out to focus on both my physical and mental wellbeing and eventually move to a university closer to my home town so it is with regret that I must step down from my role as President.

It has been a wild ride, with the successful events of last year such as the hair and beauty event, the trans q&a and pride and to most recently having represented you all at the freshers fair. I hope that the small contribution I made to the society has had a positive impact on a few of you and I truly believe that the events and our community will only get bigger and better.

I want to thank the new and the old committees for putting up with my wacky ideas and sometimes impatient nature but I am going to miss working with you all so much. I am sure the new president will slot in perfectly to the current committee and I wish them all the best of luck.

I wanted to let you know that I would be stepping down now to give you the opportunity to consider whether the presidency is something that you would like to do and to encourage all people who have not yet become official members to do so, so you can vote at the EGM.

The dates for the EGM and all the details on how to apply for the position will be available in due course. As I am sure you can imagine the decision was not made lightly and I still need a bit of time to process everything that is going on and to tie up any lose ends to ensure a smooth transition for my predecessor.

Thank you all so much again. I am so pleased to have met you and to have spent time with you! I think you are all incredible. Please keep being yourselves, stand up for the things you believe in and be kind to one another. It is people like us who make the world a better place.
