Christmas may still feel a little way off, but we're already looking ahead to the festive season and would love your help! 🎄

As we start planning our festive content, we're looking for stories from families who have stayed in a Ronald McDonald House over the last few years. These stories help us show the real impact of keeping families close during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

We're particularly keen to hear from:
- Families who stayed in a House over the Christmas period
- Families whose siblings were able to stay together
- Families who can share how the House helped remove a practical worry during a difficult time
- Families from all regions and backgrounds

The stories shared may be featured across our website and social media channels, helping us highlight the importance of our Houses and the families we support.

We were delighted to welcome the wonderful team from Crochet Blessings Edinburgh to our House this week. 💛

This local group brings older people together, helping them feel loved, connected and valued. They shared that same kindness with us in the most beautiful way.

The group kindly crocheted stunning blankets for our lounge and created extra ones for us to gift to families who may need a little comfort. Each stitch is filled with warmth, care and community spirit. 🧶

Caitlin and Eilagh loved showing everyone around the House, and we’re so excited to be building a new friendship with such a thoughtful and generous community.

Noah was born with Tracheo-oesophageal Fistula (TOF) and Oesophageal Atresia (OA). At just three days old, he needed emergency surgery and spent seven weeks in Critical Care before moving to a "going home" ward.

When Noah was transferred from NICU, his parents, Cuan and Malcolm, were offered a room at Ronald McDonald House Edinburgh.

"The staff took away the stress of logistics by giving us a place to stay without the financial pressure."

Over six months, the family stayed in four different rooms while Noah received ongoing care. Being close to their son meant they could be by his side every step of the way, while also finding support from other families and the House team.

"The staff are wonderful. They always check in and are eager to hear updates about Noah and how we're doing."

The day they finally walked back into the House with Noah in his car seat, ready to head home, is a moment they'll never forget.

Noah, you are brave beyond words. 💛 Thank you to Cuan and Malcolm for letting us be part of your journey. We wish your family all the very best for the future.

"Did you know we offer a Day Pass programme at Ronald McDonald House Edinburgh? 💙

As well as providing free accommodation for families staying overnight, we also support parents and carers who are spending long days at the hospital with their child. Day Pass holders can access our kitchens, lounges and laundry facilities.

Located within the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, NHS Lothian Children's Services, our House offers a welcoming space to take a break, recharge and enjoy a little comfort during long hospital days.

We're so excited to welcome Gina, our new Family Support Assistant to the Edinburgh House team 💜

Originally from Hong Kong, Gina is currently studying at the University of Edinburgh and brings an incredible mix of creativity, energy and kindness to the House.

She's not just a student, she's a leader. Gina previously led her dance team all the way to the World of Dance, demonstrating talent, teamwork and determination every step of the way. We already know she's going to bring that same enthusiasm and positive spirit to our families and staff.

We're thrilled to have you with us, Gina. Welcome to the team!

"We were made to feel like a family again, even when everything felt impossible." 💛

Just two weeks after Logan was born, he was rushed back to hospital with dangerously high blood sugar levels. What followed were six difficult weeks in hospital, where he underwent blood transfusions, multiple investigations, and was eventually diagnosed with the rare condition 6q24 neonatal diabetes.

During that time, our Edinburgh House gave Logan's family a place to stay together, close to the care he needed. From making sure big sister Lucy had her favourite bedding to thoughtful surprises that brightened difficult days, the team helped make an incredibly challenging time a little easier.

"The House gave us a place to breathe, to rest, and to be together. We'll never forget how much you cared and how you made us feel like family when we were struggling."

Today, Logan is thriving, and it was wonderful to welcome the family back for a visit and see just how much he has grown!

We're excited to share that the very first McHappy Day is happening in the UK and Ireland on 26 September!​

On this special day, people across the UK will come together to support families with children in hospital. ❤️​

£1 from selected main meals sold at McDonald's will be donated to Ronald McDonald House UK, helping families stay close to their child while they receive hospital treatment.​
