After 233 days at Ronald McDonald House Edinburgh, we're delighted to be waving the Davidson family home. 🏠💛

Their daughter, Lainie, was admitted in December 2025 after developing an infection following her gastrostomy insertion, beginning a long and emotional journey for the whole family.

Over the months, the House became a place of comfort and stability. Somewhere to rest, share meals and spend precious time together away from the hospital. Lainie's mum, Lydia, said: "It feels like a home... we've even been calling it a home."

We were honoured to support the family through Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day, and we'll always remember the joy Lainie brought to the House. Her singing drifting through the corridors brought smiles to so many faces. 🎶

It's been a privilege to support the Davidson family during their stay. We wish them all the happiness in the world as they begin this next chapter together.

A huge 'thank you' to our Wonderful volunteers 💙

Recently, we were delighted to welcome Carla and her friend Lisa back to our Edinburgh House for a day of volunteering.

Carla and her family stayed with us while her son, Ollie, was in hospital, so returning to give back to a place that means so much to them was particularly special. Together, Carla and Lisa spent the day supporting our housekeeping team, helping to create a welcoming environment for the families staying with us today.

Reflecting on the day, Carla said:

""It honestly felt so nice to be able to give something back to a place that means so much to us. Especially getting to clean Ness, the room we called home whilst Ollie was in hospital. We really enjoyed helping out and would love to come back and volunteer again in the future.""

We're incredibly grateful to Carla and Lisa for their support.

Carla's commitment to giving back doesn't stop there. She and her husband Jason will be taking on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on 13 September 2026 to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House UK.

If you'd like to support them, you can donate here: www.justgiving.com/page/carla-jason-kiltwalk2026

Feeling inspired? Join Team RMHC UK at this year's Edinburgh Kiltwalk and help us keep families close when it matters most. 💛

We recently said goodbye to the wonderful Goldie family after a 28-day stay in our House 💛

During their time with us, their incredible daughter Robyn showed such bravery while recovering from a kidney laceration. It has been a true privilege for our team to support the family through what has been a very difficult time.

As they head home, we are sending them all our love, strength and best wishes for the next steps in Robyn’s recovery

We would like to say a massive 'thank you' to our wonderful McDonald’s family who came along to learn more about what we do and rolled up their sleeves to help make our House sparkle ✨

We were delighted to welcome 11 fantastic volunteers from McDonald’s Restaurants, including Amy, one of their People Managers, along with team members from Wishaw, Airdrie, Berwick, Fort Kinnaird and Telford. They got stuck into cleaning and preparing our bedrooms so families could check in, as well as scrubbing our communal kitchen to make sure it remains a clean and safe space for families to cook and come together.

They have also been doing an incredible job fundraising as part of the McOpCo North Restaurants Miles That Matter challenge, continuing to raise awareness and vital funds every quarter.

We are truly grateful for everything our McDonald’s family does. Thank you for your support!

Last month, we said goodbye to the Mullen family after 42 days with us, while their lovely boy Mason continues to face ongoing neurological challenges.

It has meant so much to be able to this lovely family during this incredibly difficult time, giving them a place to rest, to pause and to be together when everything felt overwhelming.

To the Mullen family, thank you for letting us be part of your journey. 💛

You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we are sending you so much love for the days ahead.

You’ve heard the song 🎶 Now let’s take on the miles!

Families staying at a Ronald McDonald House often have to travel an average of 79 miles to get the care their child needs. Now, the Edinburgh House team is taking on that distance themselves.

We’re proud to launch our 79 Mile Mission, raising awareness of the vital work we do to keep families together during some of the toughest times in their lives. 💛

Every mile we complete and every pound raised helps provide a free home away from home for families with children in hospital, so they can stay close without the added worry of cost.

Walking it 🚶
Running it 🏃
Cycling it 🚴
Swimming it 🏊

79 miles together. 79 miles for families.

Any donation, big or small, will help Ronald McDonald House continue to support families who need us most.

You can support us here: https://rmh.sync.giving/fr/cr-qq1zv8wn3kx49
