We are delighted to announce the launch of Moving Medicine for Everybody, a new website to deliver trusted, evidence‑based physical activity guidance together in one place, supporting people living with long‑term health conditions to move safely and confidently.

Physical inactivity costs the UK economy approximately £7.4 billion per year, including approximately £1 billion to the NHS. Over half of the UK adult population lives with at least one long term condition and this trajectory continues to get worse. Led by medical specialists in sport and exercise medicine, the website marks the next phase of the broader Moving Medicine

programme, which supports healthcare professionals and systems to integrate physical activity into routine clinical care.

Moving Medicine for Everybody has been developed in partnership with Nuffield Health and the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK, alongside partners including Sport England .

FSEM has officially launched three new Team Care minimum standards documents, in: Qualifications and Certification of Doctors; Athlete Immediate Care and Indemnity.

A key motivation behind the development of these documents was ensuring that clinicians are not placed into positions beyond their competence or training. Early‑career Doctors in particular can find themselves in demanding environments without the experience needed to manage complex cases or make high‑stakes decisions.

By defining minimum levels of training and expected qualifications, the new framework helps prevent practitioners being exposed to avoidable risk. At the same time, it provides reassurance for athletes, teams, and employers that the professionals supporting them have training aligned with best practice.

Team care goes far beyond treating injuries. It demands accurate diagnosis, skilled clinical assessment, and a strong understanding of sport‑specific movement patterns.

What makes it unique is its multidisciplinary nature - SEM doctors, physiotherapists, and sport scientists working together to deliver integrated care across training, competition, clinics and hospitals.

And its impact reaches well beyond sport. As physical inactivity drives rising rates of conditions like heart disease, diabetes and stroke, team care skills support one of the UK’s most important public‑health challenges.

The Team Care Diploma strengthens the core knowledge and standards needed to operate confidently in this demanding environment, ensuring practitioners deliver safe, effective, and team‑aligned care.
