Utility Aid suggests that in volatile energy markets that are likely to continue, it makes sense to reduce financial risk by going for longer term fixed price contracts even if you might end up paying more. This is a useful thing for the people who run community buildings to think about.

Here's another way to energise churches to think about what their building is for and what they should do as a result -very different from ours, but we love that the National Churches Trust is doing this.

Across the country, dedicated volunteers are working hard to care for churches, chapels, and meeting houses. But even the most committed teams sometimes need advice whether it’s securing funding for repairs, planning a project, or engaging the local community.

The Scottish Episcopal Church ran a wonderful series of Net Zero Roadshows where we gave workshops and talked to many congregations about the difficulties they face reducing their energy use and moving away from fossil fuels. We're thinking now about what we've learned and what we should do to augment our self-guided programme that gets churches and other community groups started on their way. If you've been involved in one of our workshops or done the programme, remember, we're always here for you - and if not, have a look at our website and Guide Book!

The Net Zero Team was pleased to welcome the First Minister John Swinney MSP to join the Net Zero Roadshow for the Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane.

Not long now until our workshop in Tayport - and we're looking forward to it! We'll be talking about the main things you need to think about to make the best use of energy in community buildings and looking at some of the techniques our programme uses to help groups make the decisions that best suit their circumstances. Many thanks to Greener Kirkcaldy for organising it.
