Huge cost escalation ✅️
Massive delays ✅️
Slower trains ✅️
Much shorter route ✅️
Bad reputation for the 🇬🇧 ✅️

Surely this is a complete farce.

HS2 is now expected to cost up to £102bn and open in 2039. This is up from £32bn which was the expected budget at the outset and with an initial target opening date of 2026.

The connection to Euston won't happen until the 2040s.

The trains will run slower too, at a max of 199mph instead of 224mph. The route is much shorter too - London-Birmingham only and not Leeds or Manchester.

And who knows, at this rate, in the 2030s the cost and delay will probably go up even more.

To mark their 70 years in business,Burlington Motors in Acton are doing 70 facts about their business...

The first one is below 👇

FACT 1. Did you know we started in 1956 in Burlington mews (behind the parade of shops off churchfield road) in a small workshop beneath where the Nicoll family lived at the time. We stayed there until the 80’s when the council decided to re-develop it, which was when we found our current premises where we have been ever since 🚙 😃

This is the lovely Adam & Eve Mews just off Kensington High Street.

The street is named after an old inn which was situated here called The Adam and Eve Inn and a local tavern where regulars used to enjoy a few beers.

As with all mews, horses 🐎 lived here in this street in their stables when they were a primary mode of transport throughout the Victorian era. The horse owners tended to live in the large townhouses nearby.
