Langley Park Miners' Banner

11/07/2026

Today, Langley Park proudly returned to the Durham Miners’ Gala for the first time in over 20 years.

Thank you to everyone who came along to walk with us, carry the banner, cheer us on along the route, attend the Cathedral service, and support us throughout the day. It was incredible to see so many people come together to celebrate our village and its mining heritage.

A special thank you to the Sacriston Banner Group for marching alongside us and to everyone who has supported this project since its beginning. Bringing the Langley Park Miners’ Banner back has truly been a community effort, and today was a day we’ll never forget.

If you have any pictures from the gala today please do share them with us!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Miners’ Institute to see the new Langley Park Miners’ Banner today. We were delighted to welcome an incredible 185 people throughout the day.

As things have now quietened down and we have an early start for the Gala tomorrow, we’ve packed everything away for the evening.

If you didn’t get the chance to see the banner today, don’t worry, you’ll be able to see it at the Durham Miners’ Gala tomorrow.

Thank you once again for all of your support. We look forward to seeing many of you at the Gala!

🚩 Durham Miners' Gala - Saturday 11th July

A reminder that Langley Park will be taking part in the Durham Miners' Gala for the first time in over 20 years.

📍We'll be meeting at the Bridge Hotel (next to Dominos) at 8:30am before the march.

Our route will take us down North Road, up into the Market Place, and then down past the County Hotel. If you'd like to join us, you're welcome to meet us at the start or join the march at any point along the route.

Whether you'd like to walk with the banner, help carry it, or simply show your support, everyone is welcome.

🎡 We also have some discounted fairground ride vouchers (50p off children's rides or £1 off adult rides) which we will hand out on a first come, first served basis.

⛪ Everyone is welcome to attend the Cathedral Blessing. The service begins at 3pm, but we recommend arriving early to secure a seat. If possible, we'd suggest sitting towards the back of the Cathedral so you can join us as we march back out after the service.
