On Sunday our Community Relations Manager Jamilah got to go to the incredible Children's Cancer North annual event 🫶🏽

A really lovely way for the children and families they work with all year round to have some fun, switch off for the day and get competitive 😅🤩😎 Which we alll love to do every now and again!!

The team at had football, inflatables, archery, mascot race, wheelchair rugby 🏉 and sooo much more!!

We are really glad we’ve been able to support them with a grant from our Project Community Fund and it was wonderful seeing what the funds were used to create ✨

Norman Melaney has been a member of our community group linked to developments around Bishopton village. He is now moving to Scotland and so we wish him farewell and congratulations for all his work to improve Bishopton Village, the Village Hall and Community Playground in partnership with the Banks Community Fund. A surprise farewell party was attended by Community Relations Manager Kate Culverhouse alongside a number of grateful residents.

We were honoured to be for at the North East Charity Awards✨

The most wonderful category and the hardest to judge! The biggest thank you to allll who were shortlisted! Thank you for your hugeee hearts, the amazing things you do and always inspiring us!

Congratulations to the Winners 🥹 George & Kate!! What a teammm ✨

And then the biggest thank youuuu to our wonderful guests!!! We’ve been able to support sooo many incredible organisations, charities and groups this year & to be able to invite them to such a great event, spend time and celebrate the amazingggg things that happen here in the North East, it’s the icing on allllll the cakes 🤩

We’re delighted to support the John Watt Academy with a grant from the Banks Community Fund. 🏸

The funding is helping the Academy provide free Saturday morning badminton sessions for young people aged 10+ in Cramlington, with coaching and all equipment provided.

It’s a great opportunity for more local young people to get active, learn new skills and discover a new sport, without cost being a barrier.

We’re proud to continue our support for St Margaret's Centre, a Durham charity using practical and creative activities to make a positive difference to local people’s wellbeing.

Our latest support through the Banks Community Fund is helping the Centre provide new tools, materials and supplies for its woodwork and joinery workshops.

Open to everyone from complete beginners to experienced craftspeople, the sessions offer a welcoming space to learn new skills, meet others and build confidence, with guidance available every step of the way.

St Margaret’s supported more than 410 people last year, offering everything from woodwork and arts and crafts to gardening, a community café and wider practical and emotional support.

We’re delighted to continue supporting an organisation doing such valuable work in our home city.

We’re proud to be supporting Meadow Well Connected as it works to make its much-loved North Tyneside community centre more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

For more than 30 years, the centre has been at the heart of its community, providing activities and essential support for people of all ages. From children’s clubs and sensory play to adult day care, employability support, a community café, IT facilities and its 3.5-acre community garden, its work reaches right across the local area.

Our support through the Banks Community Fund is helping towards the refurbishment of the centre’s reception, with plans including a wheelchair-accessible counter, safer flooring and design features to better support visitors with visual impairments and additional needs.

We’re delighted to play a part in helping Meadow Well Connected create a space where everyone can feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

We’re delighted to have awarded a Banks Community Fund grant to support Ushaw’s monthly tea dances for older people across County Durham.

The sessions give people aged 65 and over the chance to get moving, learn new dance steps, meet new people and enjoy time together in the beautiful surroundings of Ushaw. Funding is also helping provide a free shuttle bus service, making the events more accessible to people living in surrounding communities.

With the August event a complete sell-out, we’re thrilled to see the project already proving so popular.

The next tea dances take place on the first Wednesday of September, October and November, with places free for eligible local residents but advance booking required.
