Thanks to DC Thomson for their coverage of the new all terrain wheelchair available at St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs. Hamish McHamish Foundation organised the fundraiser to purchase these new wheels and Freddie’s Ataxia Fund were delighted to donate around £2500 to reach the final amount needed.

Over the past few years, beaches have become impossible for Eilidh to access. As a wheelchair user sand is not a friend! We have used the other beach wheelchairs at St Andrews a number of times but as an independent person, Eilidh did not like getting pushed by others. The new addition to their fleet allows her the freedom to go wherever she wants.

‘Trying the chair for the first time was beyond words. I’m incredibly excited to finally walk my dogs on the beach! - Freddie is 3 now, and it’s his favorite place, yet I’d only managed to go with him about three times before this. I’ve never liked being pushed, so having full independence on terrain that used to be so inaccessible is everything. I hope this chair opens up new opportunities for others (& to get close to their pets.) The world is becoming more accessible, and I’m so glad!’

Still smiling after such a brilliant evening. 💛

Our Family Fun Night at Harris Academy brought together more than 200 people from across Dundee and beyond - families, friends, colleagues and supporters - and together we raised over £6,000!!

The night started with an inspiring conversation on stage between Eilidh Kiddie and Cally Benvie, who shared their experiences of living with Friedreich’s Ataxia with such honesty, warmth and humour.

Then the games began…from human fruit machine and sweetie pong to hook a duck, tombola, bingo and of course the raffle and auction.

We’re incredibly grateful to the local businesses who supported us with food, prizes and donations, and to every single person who came along.

As a small family-run charity, nights like this remind us just how amazing our Dundee community really is. Thank you. 💛

We can't wait to see all the official photos from the night, but in the mean time here are a few of our own.
