Friends of Linlathen and Mid Craigie

Our group supported the Fire Service Community Action Team at their first Eden Project Big Lunch on Friday June 05th at Kingsway Fire Station. The National event aims to bring communities together for a blether and some food this was aimed at the over 50s. Councillor Christina Roberts came along,
Dundee motor museum were there with 2 old fire appliances as was Nichola and Natalie from the NHS Health Inclusion Nursing Team based in Douglas. It was also good to see 3 young people helping out from the newly formed Fire Service Youth Volunteer Scheme based at the station. They were very helpful and polite and everyone was very impressed with them.
We were all treated to the "firies" being called out to real incident, a very exciting moment at a very worthwhile event.

Beryl and Kevin were delighted to represent our group at the East End Wards celebration of Volunteers. A lovely evening listening to Greenfield Academy band and singers, great food and a quiz. It was great to see so many different volunteer groups being celebrated in National Volunteer week.

Kevin from our group attended a Dundee City Council (DCC) Tenants participation strategy group meeting. The new strategy for the next 5 years ( to 2032) is nearing completion and this was to support DCC to ensure it was ready for scrutiny and publication. A mix of groups took part including Dundee Federation of Tenants Associations (DFTA).and groups like ours this past 12 months.
DFTA, like us are keen for new members to help shape policy and support tenants. Could you get involved, search out and find out!

Kev from our group did a podcast with Kris Boyle from Dundee Sole. His Anti-knife campaign is gaining momentum and we will be offering support to stop young people in our community and city carrying knives. Please listen in and let's all back this campaign.

Our Friends group supported the St Ninians girls group to do a litterpick in and around Mid Park, Pitairlie Road. They collected 5 bags of rubbish in just 1 hour.

first litterpick of the year supporting Dundee litterpickers group over on the North side of Finlathen park. Amazing amount of rubbish collected in 90 minutes by 15 people. We will be supporting St Ninians girls group to do a litterpick very soon in Mid Park.
