βWe would like to make the local community aware that New Beechwood Park is private property and is currently experiencing repeated incidents of children unlawfully entering the premises, particularly during the evenings. Significant damage is being caused to the playing surface, while goals and bins have been deliberately set on fire. Individuals are gaining access by breaking fences or climbing over them, often dropping from a considerable height and putting themselves at serious risk of injury. The facility is closed and secured with padlocked gates, meaning that if someone were to be injured after entering the site illegally, emergency services may face delays in gaining access to provide assistance. It is only a matter of time before a serious injury occurs or a fire causes substantial damage.
This matter is being taken extremely seriously by both Dryburgh Athletic Community Club and Lochee Harp. Both clubs are working hard to invest in and improve the facilities at New Beechwood Park for the benefit of players, supporters, and the wider community. Unfortunately, the actions of a small number of individuals are causing damage that undermines these efforts and results in valuable time and resources being spent on repairs rather than further improvements.
CCTV has now been installed and the local police are involved. We would greatly appreciate the support of the local community in helping to prevent further incidents, encouraging young people to stay away from the site, and reporting any suspicious activity. By working together, we can help protect the facility and ensure it remains a safe and valuable asset for everyone.β
