🎉 Gala Speaker Announcement 🎉
We're delighted to announce the second speaker for the Women Ahead 25th Anniversary Gala - Carolyn Currie MBE.

Carolyn is Chief Executive of Women's Enterprise Scotland and Chair of the Productivity Institute in Scotland. A leading voice in women’s entrepreneurship, gender-inclusive policy and productivity, she has dedicated her career to creating opportunities for women-led businesses and driving systemic change across Scotland's business ecosystem.

Under Carolyn's leadership, Women’s Enterprise Scotland has championed evidence-based support for women entrepreneurs, including the launch of its free-to-access Women's Business Centre and pioneering work on crowdfunding and alternative investment models.

A respected adviser on inclusive entrepreneurship, Carolyn contributes to G20 and OECD policy papers and was awarded an MBE for services to women's entrepreneurship.

We are honoured to welcome Carolyn to our 25th Anniversary Gala and look forward to hearing her insights on leadership, entrepreneurship and creating a more inclusive future for business. We're delighted to reveal the first speaker for the Women Ahead 25th Anniversary Gala - Councillor Mark Flynn, Leader of Dundee City Council

Since being elected to represent the Coldside ward in 2017, Mark has played a key role in shaping policy across Dundee, championing initiatives that address poverty and inequalities while strengthening partnership working to improve health and wellbeing across our communities.

As Leader of Dundee City Council, Mark brings a wealth of experience in leadership, collaboration and creating positive change, and we're honoured to welcome him as part of our speaker line-up for this special anniversary event. ✨ Member spotlight: Laura Stevenson ✨
This month, we're delighted to shine the spotlight on Laura Stevenson, Founder and Managing Director of Cake or Dice CIC, Dundee's alcohol-free board game café and community hub.

Laura's career journey is a wonderful example of how paths don't always follow a straight line. With a degree in Chemistry and a background in education supporting young people, particularly those who were neurodivergent or socially isolated, she combined her passion for inclusion and community to create something truly special.

What began as an idea for a board game café has grown into a thriving community space where people can connect, build friendships and feel a sense of belonging. Since opening in 2023, Cake or Dice has welcomed thousands of visitors and become a safe, welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ people, neurodivergent people, families, young people and anyone looking for connection.

When asked what success looks like today, Laura's answer perfectly captures the spirit of social enterprise: creating a financially sustainable organisation without losing the values that make it special. For Laura, success is seeing people find confidence, friendship and a place where they can truly be themselves.

💙 Announcing Our Charity Partner for the Women Ahead 25th Anniversary Gala 💙

We are delighted to announce that our chosen charity partner for the Women Ahead 25th Anniversary Gala on Friday 25th September is The Archie Foundation.

For over 25 years, The Archie Foundation has been transforming experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families across Scotland. Their work provides practical, emotional and financial support when families need it most.

The impact of their work is truly remarkable. In 2025 alone, The Archie Foundation provided direct support to 4,440 babies and children, helped 1,386 parents stay close to their children through free hospital accommodation and supported 597 children through specialist bereavement services.

As Women Ahead celebrates 25 years of supporting and empowering women, we are proud to partner with an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference to families across our region. Their commitment to ensuring children and families receive compassionate support during some of life's most challenging moments is inspiring. We look forward to helping raise awareness and funds for their vital work.
