STRUCTURAL INVESTIGATIONS ON ALLAN WATER BRIDGE ON THE A9 AT DUNBLANE
FROM TUESDAY 2ND JUNE

Amey is undertaking overnight investigations on Allan Water Bridge on the A9 at Dunblane between Tuesday 2nd June and Saturday 6th June.

The investigations are required to understand the existing condition of the structure in advance of any deck refurbishment work being
undertaken.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be undertaken using overnight lane closures on both the A9 northbound and southbound carriageways at Allan Water Bridge between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night.

Unfortunately, some noise will occur during these works and Amey are working to programme operations to minimise any disturbance as much as possible.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or
rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Fire incident update from council

I am writing to provide an update regarding the fire at the Chip Inn on Station Road, Dunblane.

A multi-agency response has been in place since the incident was reported last night. Teams worked throughout the night to bring the fire under control and support the wider response. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was only able to fully extinguish the fire once the gas supply to the flat above the shop had been safely isolated. Final isolation of both gas and electrical supplies was completed around lunchtime today.

A structural engineer has been on site since this morning, providing advice on utility isolation and safe working practices in the vicinity of the building. A potential risk has been identified in relation to the gable end facing the Station, and the decision to close access to the station car park from the Stirling Road end reflects this concern. The engineer will return tomorrow to carry out a further assessment of the building’s condition and consider next steps.

A Heras fencing cordon installed by the Council’s Roads Service is now in place, securing the immediate area and preventing access to the main Station Road car park. Pedestrian access to the Station from Stirling Road has now reopened. The Roads team have implemented a temporary two-way traffic system, with access via the Bridgend route only. Station Road, between Bridgend and Victoria Hall, has also reopened. Protective fencing will remain along the shop-side pavement to ensure public safety.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service transferred control of the site to Stirling Council Building Standards this afternoon. Building Standards are progressing contact with property owners and arrangements to secure the affected properties, and supporting progressing assessment for repair.

Building Standards, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have supported controlled access to allow occupiers to retrieve essential belongings. Officers have contacted displaced households to confirm that suitable alternative accommodation arrangements are in place, and no further assistance has been requested.

Some localised disruption may continue while investigations and safety checks are completed.

✅ Community groups across Stirling are gearing up to join in a special clean-up event during the last weekend in May.

The clean-up drive, which will take place on the weekend of Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May, will support the ongoing work of the council, community groups and other litter-picking organisations and individuals throughout the Stirling area to make neighbourhoods clean and welcoming.

Stirling Council will supply a limited amount of litter callipers and refuse bags to the volunteer groups, either dropping the equipment/bags at prearranged points or they can be collected at Springkerse Depot, Stirling.

The Council’s Neighbourhood Services teams will work concurrently over the two days to collect the filled sacks and transport them directly to the Polmaise waste facility for disposal.

Local residents who wish to get involved can make contact via the council's dedicated e-mail address - [email protected]

💬 Residents, sports clubs and employers across Stirling are being encouraged to have their say on the future of sport, physical activity and wellbeing in the area before 31 May to inform a new long-term strategy.

The consultation, led by Stirling Council, will help shape how people access and experience physical activity, leisure and wellbeing opportunities across Stirling in the years ahead.

The consultation forms part of a wider review into how leisure and wellbeing services can better meet the needs of local communities.

The new sport, physical activity and health strategy aims to create a healthier, more active Stirlingshire where everyone regardless of age, ability or background has the opportunity to move more and feel well.

Convener of Stirling Council’s Community Wellbeing Committee, Cllr Brian Hambly said: “We share the national vision of a Scotland where more people are more active more often. Taking part in this important consultation before the deadline is a step towards achieving that and shaping how sport and activity can work across our area.

“Whether you are a resident, are involved in sport or leisure clubs or an employer in the area, you can have your say on the strengths of what is currently out there and also help show the gaps that need to be addressed.”

“We want to hear from everyone across Stirling, active or not. Your feedback will help us create a Stirling where being active is easy, enjoyable and part of everyday life.”

A message from BBC presenter Stephen Jardine:

DO YOU WANT TO BE IN THE STUDIO AUDIENCE OF A BBC TV PROGRAMME?

Debate Night is BBC Scotland’s political discussion show and we want people from across Scotland to have their say.

The programme travels around the country each week, and we would be delighted to welcome locals in the studio audience.

How do I apply for FREE studio tickets?

Visit bbc.co.uk/debatenight [1] and select ‘Stirling – 27 May’.

🙌 Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils are joining forces to highlight the significant tourism available in the three areas.

A new dedicated website, scotlandsforthvalley.co.uk has been created by the regional partners to meet the travel trade needs and make the area essential and easier to sell to their clients.

Boosting travel trade interest of Forth Valley was also the theme of a recent international buyers event recently held in Glasgow (April 2026).

Working under the ‘Scotland’s Forth Valley’ trade identity, more than 50 meetings were held with influential buyers from trade markets across the world at the VisitScotland Connect 2026 event, supported by Visit Glasgow at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).

This included the USA, Canada, Germany, France and China who all showed strong interest in authentic, less crowded destinations and distinctive visitor experiences.

💬 Residents, community groups and other key stakeholders are being asked for their feedback on another key part of Stirling’s Local Development Plan (LDP) as it continues to take shape.

This part of the consultation will gather people’s views on the plan’s spatial strategy and the site options that are currently being considered for inclusion.

The spatial strategy will dictate where and how growth, development and land-use change will happen in the Stirling Council area (except Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park), directing investment and housing to the most appropriate locations.

The site options shown in this round of the consultation come from two places:

👉 Sites submitted by landowners and developers during the Call for Sites, which ran from August to October 2025.

👉 Sites already identified for development in the current Stirling Local Development Plan that have not yet started and therefore need to be reassessed to decide whether they should be included in the next plan.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Susan McGill said: “The new Local Development Plan will guide how your community and the wider Stirling area looks in the future so it will impact everyone who lives, works and visits here.

“The site options part of this consultation is particularly crucial as it will enable residents, community groups and other stakeholders to have their say on how and where new housing, jobs and infrastructure developments happen in the coming years.

“Participating in the surveys will give a voice to the needs and aspirations of your local area and help shape a plan that delivers thriving communities and sustainable growth for all of Stirling – so please take part before the deadline of 23 July.”

A number of drop-in events have been arranged to support this part of the consultation:

➡ Strathblane – Wednesday 20 May (1-6pm) in Edmonstone Hall
➡ Kippen – Thursday 21 May (1-6pm) in Kippen Village Hall
➡ Blairlogie – Wednesday 27 May (1-6pm) in Blairlogie Reading Room
➡ Gargunnock – Thursday 28 May (2-6.30pm) in Gargunnock Community Centre
➡ Plean, including Bannockburn and Cowie – Tuesday 2 June (11am-3pm) in Balfour Community Centre
➡ Bridge of Allan – Wednesday 3 June (1-6pm) in the Allan Centre
➡ Doune and Deanston – Thursday 4 June (1.45pm to 5.45pm) in the Rural Hall
➡ Fallin – Thursday 11 June (1.15-6.15pm) in Fallin Library
