Just home after a lovely trip away for a family wedding and celebrating my Dad’s birthday ❤️

With the storms hitting Scotland while we were away, though, our thoughts kept turning to the ponies, their barns and how everything was holding up 💨🐴

Such a relief to come home and see them all looking well and happy and a huge thank you to Michelle for looking out for them in our absence 🥰 Moving them into their winter turnout last week was definitely the right decision 🙏

Here’s hoping for calmer days ahead. Hope all your four-legged friends have weathered the storms safely too ❤️

🐴🌟 OUR FINAL 6-WEEK ASDAN EQUILEARNING COURSES FOR 2026 ARE HERE! 🌟🐴

We are delighted to announce the start dates for our FINAL fully funded ASDAN Equilearning courses for 2026! 💚

📅 Tuesday 3rd November – Young people aged 12 years and over.

📅 Wednesday 4th November – Children aged up to 12 years

⏰ 10.30am – 12 noon

📚 6 weeks of learning, confidence building and unforgettable experiences with our wonderful horses and ponies!

🐎 What will we be learning?

Our ASDAN Equilearning programme combines hands-on activities with our ponies, practical learning and personal development in a supportive, relaxed environment.

Throughout the six weeks, participants will have opportunities to:

🐴 Learn about horse care, grooming, handling and equine welfare

💚 Build confidence, self-esteem and independence

🤝 Develop teamwork, communication and social skills

🧠 Improve problem-solving, decision-making and concentration

🌟 Learn responsibility, patience, empathy and respect

💪 Develop resilience, emotional awareness and strategies for managing challenges

🏅 Work towards recognising and celebrating their achievements through ASDAN learning activities

No previous horse experience is needed! Just a willingness to learn, get involved and enjoy spending time with our four-legged friends and a small group of like-minded people. 🐴❤️

🎉 FULLY FUNDED PLACES – PLEASE READ! 🎉

We are incredibly grateful to have received funding that allows us to offer these fantastic opportunities completely FREE of charge to families.

However, with this funding comes a responsibility to ensure every place is used and every young person gets the full benefit of the programme.

❤️ We therefore ask that you only request a place if you can commit to attending ALL SIX WEEKS, from 10.30am to 12 noon.

Each session builds on the previous one, so regular attendance is really important.

⚠️ SPACES WILL BE EXTREMELY LIMITED!

We already have a waiting list of families hoping to join us, so there will only be a very small number of additional places available.

We want to make sure these precious funded spaces go to children and young people who can fully commit and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.

Following on from our “Preparing for Winter” post, we’re turning our attention to getting the ponies’ open barns and winter area ready. 🐴🍂

We’re lucky enough to have a large hardstanding area they can use, keeping them out of the mud — because clay soil in Scotland really is the pits! 🙈

Just as valuable as dry feet is the space it gives them to be together. They can move about, choose who they spend time with and keep those all-important social interactions going, rather than being stuck standing in a stable for long periods with the same neighbour beside them.

Friends, freedom and forage are at the heart of what horses need, and those needs don’t disappear when winter arrives.

For us, getting everything ready can feel a little like a “down” moment. It’s a sign that winter is coming, bringing shorter days and a lot more work to care for everyone.

But there’s real satisfaction in knowing they’re safe, warm, well fed and with their friends, with room to move and enjoy each other’s company. It makes those extra jobs worthwhile. 💚

Our set-up isn’t perfect, but it’s the best we have at the moment to keep them happy and healthy, mentally and physically, through the wetter months. 💜🐴💜

💜🐴 Murdo’s Motivational Monday 🐴💚

Sometimes the most important step forward is simply learning to stand still. 🌿

Life can feel overwhelming at times. We put pressure on ourselves to keep going, stay strong, have all the answers and pretend everything is fine — even when it isn't.

But here's something Murdo reminds us of every day...

🐴 You don't always need words to feel understood.

Horses have a wonderful way of bringing us back to the present moment. They don't care about your job title, your achievements or whether you're having a difficult day.

They simply meet you where you are. 💚

And that's one of the beautiful things about Therapeutic Horsemanship — creating opportunities to slow down, build trust, find connection and discover confidence at your own pace.

So, as we start another week, remember:

✨ It's okay to slow down.

✨ It's okay to ask for support.

✨ It's okay not to be okay.

💜 Your worth isn't measured by how much you achieve, but by who you are. And you are enough. 💜

🎉🎉 Wonderful news! 🎉🎉

We’re delighted to have recently received substantial funding from The Holywood Trust for the third year running! 👏👏👏

Their continued support means so much to everyone at Horses4Help. It shows their belief in what we offer and in the value of providing opportunities for children and adults from the community to learn, grow and build confidence through working with our ponies.

This funding helps us continue delivering our sessions and Accredited Equi-Learning courses, creating a welcoming space where people can develop new skills, experience a sense of achievement and progress at their own pace. 🫶🐴

We are deeply grateful to have such a highly regarded organisation supporting our work. Without major funders, like The Holywood Trust and Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, Horses4Help would not exist to provide these opportunities for the children and adults who benefit from them.

Weekends off? Not at Horses4Help! 🐴🌳

With animals and land to look after, there’s always something to do! Today’s surprise when checking and fixing fences, was a big old rotten tree that had come down straight through a paddock fence 🙈. Frank and the trusty chainsaw soon got stuck in and sorted it! 💪🪚

Still, with a beautiful day and stunning scenery to work in, there are worse ways to spend a Saturday and the gang we're very happy to get back through to their bottom paddocks! ☀️💚🐴

Carrot’s behind bars… and he’d like to speak to the manager! 🥕🚨😂

Whilst our poor Parsnip continues to recover from his recent nasty accident, Carrot is having to stay in with him for company. ❤️🐴

Anyone who knows our Carrot knows he’s strong-willed, determined and just a little bit feisty! Being Parsnip’s room-mate clearly wasn’t on his agenda, and he’s making sure EVERYONE knows he’s not impressed! 🙈😂

He does make us laugh, though—and Chelseas brilliant “Carrot in jail” mock-up captures his mood perfectly! Thanks, Chelsea! 🤣👏

That’s another THREE funding applications completed this week! 💪🐴

Behind the scenes, applying for funding takes a huge amount of time and hard work—but it’s vital for third sector organisations like ours.

Many people who need mental and emotional support simply aren’t in a position to pay for it. Funding helps us keep that support within reach. ❤️

We’re grateful to have established relationships with support groups who regularly come to us. But they’re in the same boat, constantly applying for funds to help their service users access the support they need.

That’s why every private client booking, fundraiser and wellness group means so much. Your support helps us keep running and continue being here for those who need us. 🙏
