JC Inspiring People Through Horses JC Inspiring works with horses to provide equine assisted therapy and equine facilitated learning.

It provides access to horses and therapeutic riding to those suffering with their mental health, or those with SEN and children in care.

This week our learners have been using a stethoscope to learn all about the heart and circulation. Just another example of how our program supports the curriculum and out of the classroom learning.

And maybe one of our learners will be inspired by this session and go down a medical or veterinary route in the future.

This week our groups made a play doh model of the equine digestive system. We've been thinking of fun activities when the weather is bad and our messy and interactive classroom is the perfect place for yard learning. Here's a video of our pony club group

Another brilliant session learning how food moves through the esophagus and into the stomach. The importance of fiber and how the stomach acid works. Next week....guts!

Absolutely genius way to learn how long the horses digestive system is. Splitting it into sections with string and measuring out how long each part is. Discussions as we go along about what each part does.

This week we are focusing on Biology. We are learning about the horses digestive system and comparing it to humans. We look at the "rules of feeding" and why this is essential for horses health. Next week we will be looking at healthy eating for people.
All of the sessions are tailored for each learner so it's suitable for teenagers and children.

This week we are embedding Maths by building showjumps! We work out how many human strides are needed for each horse stride and we convert it into metres. Then the fun part of getting on the horse and putting it to the test!

This week, following on from the work we did measuring the dressage arena, we got creative and wrote our own dressage test. We then tacked up and rode the test and learnt how to get a percentage from the scores. Maths doesn't have to happen in a classroom!
