TEAM NEWS! ๐Ÿšจ

Here are the D&D teams for this weekendโ€™s fixtures! ๐Ÿ™Œ

After an unlikely run of consecutive home games, the Senior 1st XI are finally on the road again - albeit with one of the shortest trips of the year, as they visit Clackmannan County Cricket Club 2s! ๐Ÿ

Itโ€™s a strong D&D lineup, with returns for Dheraj, Alex and the one, the only, John F Kewley! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Great to see some youth in the team also, with Charlie and Magnus offering strong bowling options ๐Ÿ‘

12pm start @ The Arns. Players to meet at the ground for 11am.

A big thanks to our match ball sponsors, Deanston Distillery! ๐Ÿ’™

We are also at The Doune Gala on Saturday throughout the day! Fi, Dave and Co will be on the stall! Go along and say hello! ๐Ÿ

On Sunday, we welcome a new opponent to The Grazings, as our Sunday Team face Oban CC! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Itโ€™s a similar side to last weekend, although a new captain, as George Herbst takes the reins! Great to see such a range of players in action across the weekend!

A particular shoutout to Iain Manthorpe, who makes his debut, and has been a great addition to the club since he joined in the winter! ๐Ÿ‘

Players to meet at 12pm for a 1pm start. Oban providing their own food, so just bring lunch for yourself! ๐Ÿ‘

On Sunday morning, the U10s are in action at McKane Park, home of Dunfermline & Carnegie Comets Cricket Club! Like father, like son - Charlie Herbst captains the side once again! Watch this space for the U10s! Some great progression in this group recently, as well as some new additions who will no doubt be on the team sheet soon! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Players to meet at McKane Park for 9:30am ๐Ÿ‘

As always, a massive thanks to our headline sponsors, Baird Optometrists - Dunblane ๐Ÿ’™

Have a great weekend when it comes, D&D supporters! ๐Ÿ™Œ

This Saturday we play our good pals Clackmannan County Cricket Club. But, can we break the alternating curse? ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฅ

Tell us how you think this weekendโ€™s game plays out. Are we securing the WIN at the Arns, or will we LOSE?๐Ÿ‘‡

SUNDAY ROUNDUP! ๐Ÿšจ

A busy day of cricket for D&D on a rare sunny day โ˜€๏ธ

Starting at Linlithgow Cricket Club with the U12s in the Sunday Slam. We were given the unenviable task of facing a very experienced Stirling County Cricket Club side. Skipper George opted to bowl.

The bowling was shared around the young team with old-hand George taking the gloves. Some very fine bowling displays with special mentions to Oliver with figures of 1-6 and Thomas also picking up a wicket with a fine diving catch from Will. We managed to restrict Stirling to a very respectable 68.

In reply, George got us off to a good start with 3 early boundaries but then Stirling were able to restrict the scoring leaving us 25 runs short.

A shout out has to go out to the young lads from Stirling who played the game in great spirit, recognising the inexperience and youth on our side and bowling and fielding accordingly.

With 25 spare minutes, we had a third "innings" with Stirling having to chase a made up score of 120. This was probably the highlight of the day as D&D came out on top with fantastic bowling again from Abbie and Oliver ๐Ÿ‘

On to the Sunday XI back at The G and we welcomed Kinross-shire Cricket Club. D&D batted first, opening with the father-son combination of Ben and Dan who batted stoically, scoring 28 and 24 respectively (Dan following up Friday night's heroics with another very mature display). Salman picked up the pace with a very quick 27 which was unfortunately the only other innings of note as the team finished with a slightly below par 118.

In reply with the ball, D&D struggled for early wickets and Kinross ticked along nicely, putting on 50 for the first wicket. Again, we looked to youth and it was George who made the breakthrough, bowling a lovely flipper to sneak under the bat bowling the set batsman. Not to be outdone by his young mate, Dan then chipped in with a lovely wicket to stall the scoring. Hopes were dashed pretty quickly as Kinross accelerated towards the target with Jodie denied a wicket on debut as a regulation edge flew through the vacant slip cordon. Dan had the last moment of note as a drive at a good ball ended up in the safe hands of George H.

Thanks to Kinross-shire CC for a great afternoon with plenty of laughs shared ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ

JUNIORS WIN! ๐Ÿ

The Under 14s were in action last night at The Grazings, in a Forth Valley League T20 clash with Stenhousemuir Cricket Club juniors! ๐Ÿ™Œ

On what turned out to be a fairly drizzly night, William Barnes won the toss and put his D&D side into bat first. With strong opening bowling from the Stenhousemuir boys though, there were a couple of early wickets.

Dan Hart was the man to stick around, doing a great job to keep the good balls out and capitalise on loose deliveries, on what was not the easiest night for batting! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

With some accelerations from the captain and from the experienced, John Henderson, D&D got their total up to a round 120 ๐Ÿ‘

Having had a rain delayed first innings, and with light becoming a bit of a concern, Louis and Stenhousemuir coach, Divya, opted to shorten the second innings to 12 overs, with a revised total of 83 to win for the visitors!

Stenny went about their task brilliantly early on, with Farhaad and Sudhanva leading the charge. However, Tom Smith struck to break the partnership, with William Barnes catching Farhaad out at mid-off for a solid 9 runs.

From there, the game was always tight. Stenny captain, Sudhanva was joined by Aarush, and the two built a great partnership, running well between the wickets and batting with power and timing.

In the end it was 13 to win off the final over, and William Barnes to bowl it. With only 3 scored off the first 3 deliveries, the game looked to be more or less overโ€ฆ however a 4 from Sudhanva and a wide that ran away left Stenhousemuir with just 4 to win from the last ball! ๐Ÿซฃ

William came running in, Sudhanva swung hard but didnโ€™t quite time it, leaving the D&D captain with a comfortable caught and bowled to end the game! ๐Ÿ‘

A really close game, played in a great spirit throughout! Our thanks to Stenhousemuir for making the journey.

SENIORS โฌ‡๏ธ

Unfortunately no league match today, with St Modans Cricket Club 2s forfeiting.

Weโ€™re getting together at 12pm for an intra-club T20 though, so get yourself along to The Grazings and watch (or even play) the cricket! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Then tomorrow, Kinross-shire Cricket Club join us for what looks to be a sun-drenched day in Doune for a friendly! ๐Ÿ‘

SCHOOLS WEEK OF CRICKET! ๐Ÿ

Teams from Newton Primary and Dunblane Primary were in action on the North Inch in Perth today at Cricket Scotland Schools Week of Cricket! ๐Ÿ™Œ

All the boys put in a great effort, competing against some of the top Primary School cricket teams from across the country! ๐Ÿ‘

Newton ended the day without a win, however put in strong performances against some great teams.

Dunblane PS went 3 wins from 5 matches - a really strong showing from the boys!

There was even a chance to have a chat and get some signatures with some Menโ€™s Scotland internationals, including Michael Leask (pictured), who kindly joined the DPS boys for a photo! ๐Ÿ‘

Sad news for the Dunblane High School S1-3 boys though, as tomorrowโ€™s competition has been cancelled due to the heavy rain forecast โ˜น๏ธ

MIDWEEK TEAM NEWS! ๐Ÿšจ

Itโ€™s T20 timeโ€ฆ take 2! After our T20 in Gargunnock was washed out this past week, we go again on Tuesday night - this time against Morrison's Academy! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The guys are really looking forward to heading through to Crieff, particularly with there being a few Morrisons connections in our side.

Thereโ€™s a change of captaincy, as Chris is given the honours, playing against the school he used to Captain many moons ago! ๐Ÿ

Itโ€™s a 6pm start, with players to meet at Dallerie for around 5:30pm.

Thereโ€™s plenty of youth in the D&D lineup, with John, Magnus, George, Matthew, Daniel and Berkley making up the junior contingent! ๐Ÿ‘

Keep those fingers crossed that it stays dry! ๐Ÿคž
