Our petition is sitting at just under 350 signatures ( 345 to be exact) now. This is a great number but we need to keep going!

The DACC met with the Highland Council last week and we'll post the minutes from the meeting once they've been drafted up but in the meantime, please keep signing and sharing.

Don't forget to direct any of your friends/neighbours who don't have access to the internet to Mitchell's Chemist where there is a hard copy of the petition in there.

We’ve hit 200 signatures! Thanks everyone for your support.

If you haven’t signed the petition to bring back properly staffed services at the Dornoch Service Point, now’s the time. And if you have signed, give it another push by sharing/liking it today if you can.

A massive thanks to Mitchell's Chemist for taking hard copies of the petition where those who don't have access to the internet can sign it.

Posters are up around the town but if you would like to take one in your place of work, let us know and we'll drop one off.

The more names we have, the harder we’ll be to ignore.

As you may have seen from our last post, Highland Council has changed the way local services are delivered in Dornoch (without public consultation and while the Council was in recess).

From Monday 4th August, the dedicated staff member based at the Dornoch Service Point was moved to Golspie, with services now managed from there. While the Council says the Service Point has not “closed”, in practice there is no longer walk-in access to housing, council tax, or benefits support. Appointments are now required, with a staff member travelling from Golspie to Dornoch to meet residents.

The Dornoch Area Community Council first requested a meeting about this on 17th July. We received a reply on 31st July that largely repeated the original statement shared on 9th July. A meeting date was only confirmed on Friday 8th August and will take place this week.

We have launched this petition to show Highland Council that the people of Dornoch value our local services and will stand together to protect them.
