Thank you to everyone who came along to our concert on Saturday! The evening began with the serene beauty of Fauré's Cantique and Requiem, followed by the vibrant fireworks of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms — a wonderful contrast that made for a memorable programme.
Along with the prolonged applause, we received many kind words about the quality of the singing — whether that of our soloists or the choir as a whole. It was especially lovely to hear this praise not only from our longstanding patrons and faithful audience members, but also from those attending one of our concerts for the very first time.
A huge thank you goes to all our choir members for the work they put into preparing the music and for their focus and commitment during the performance. Our thanks also as ever to our director Matt and accompanist Simon for their leadership and musicianship.
Special thanks go to:
• our fantastic guest soloists, harpist Angelina Egerton, and percussionist Peter Matthews;
• our accompanist-turned-organist, Simon Corner;
• and the soloists drawn from among our own choir members
And last but certainly not least, our treble soloist Amelia — the daughter of our conductor Matt. For her to undertake the treble solo in Chichester Psalms with such apparent ease was truly magical.
We now continue straight on with rehearsals for our final concert of the season — Brahms’s German Requiem in mid-May. We hope to see many of you there!
