📣 Exciting news! We've picked up the keys to our new Thetford office! 🔑

Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford & District will soon be moving into new premises at Breckland House in St Nicholas Street.

Our new location is right across the street from the bus station, providing a central and accessible base for people in Thetford and those travelling in from surrounding villages. Most importantly, this move will help us continue delivering the advice and support our community relies on.

We'll be opening the doors to our new office within the next few weeks, and we'll share the official opening date as soon as it's confirmed.

While our former office at Abbey Neighbourhood Centre in Exeter Way is now closed, our services are very much continuing. You can still find us at our regular pop-up sessions at REST Riverside, Breckland House, Thetford Town Council, Thetford Foodbank, Thetford Library and the Charles Burrell Centre.

We look forward to welcoming you to our new Thetford home very soon!

We're delighted to introduce the new Chair of Trustees at Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford & District, Mario Anastasiades.

Mario brings with him a wealth of legal, governance and leadership experience gained over a distinguished career. Since graduating in Law from the University of East Anglia, he has worked in local government and private legal practice, building extensive expertise in dispute resolution, employment law and advocacy.

His expertise also spans Coroner matters, including Inquests, personal injury and clinical negligence claims, and contentious probate work.

Amongst his previous voluntary and leadership roles, he has served as Chair of the Hinckley Citizens Advice Bureau in Leicestershire and Chair of the Leicester Counselling Centre.

Having returned to Norfolk, Mario is now Director and Solicitor at Clapham & Collinge Solicitors, and is passionate about supporting local communities and helping people access the advice and support they need.

Outside of work, Mario enjoys the theatre and cinema, writes fiction in his spare time and can often be found following the fortunes of Manchester United and Norwich City!

He says, “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chair. I look forward to working with the Trustees and other key players with a view to always acting in the best interests of Citizens Advice. The service provided by Citizens Advice is fundamental to the community of Diss, Thetford and its surrounding communities.”

Trustees play a vital role in guiding our charity; the team oversees our proper governance and ensures our decision-making and strategic direction are in the best interests of the community we serve.

We're keen to welcome more people to our Board. You don't need any qualifications or previous Trustee experience – we're interested in hearing from people with a range of skills, experiences and perspectives who want to make a positive difference.

As we continue to reflect on Volunteers' Week and celebrate the incredible people who make our work possible, we'd also like to take a moment to remember those volunteers we have sadly lost over the past year.

Our volunteers make a real difference in people's lives every day, giving their time, compassion and expertise to support others in their community, often when they need it most.

Whether they volunteered with us for many years or for a shorter time, each person made a valuable contribution to Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford & District. Their kindness, dedication and commitment helped countless people and left a lasting impact on our organisation.

We remain deeply grateful for everything they gave, and they will always be remembered as a valued part of our Citizens Advice family.

Thank you.

What a fantastic Volunteers' Week! 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who got in touch to find out more about volunteering, engaged with our social media posts, and joined us at our events throughout the week.

We were delighted to welcome more than 100 people to our special Afternoon Tea event in Diss, as well as to meet new faces at Voluntary Norfolk’s Volunteer Extravaganza in Norwich and Diss Carnival.

Across the week, we received 14 new enquiries and volunteer applications from people keen to make a difference in their local community.

We're incredibly grateful for the interest shown in the work we do; our volunteers are at the heart of our service, helping us provide free, confidential and impartial advice to thousands of people every year.

Volunteers’ Week may now be over, but it’s never too late to get involved!

Whether you're interested in becoming an adviser, supporting our community supermarket The Shelf, joining as a Trustee, or simply finding out more about what volunteering with Citizens Advice involves, we'd love to hear from you.
