The Highland Council has launched a survey about the housing needs, circumstances, and aspirations of local households. The Housing Need & Demand Assessment (HNDA) Survey is a vital opportunity to support the Council in planning for future housing and housing services the reflect the needs of residents and communities across the region.

The Council is aiming to gather views from a wide range of households to ensure the data reflects the full spectrum of housing needs and aspirations.

Who should complete the survey?

Anyone aged 16 or over
Residents living in the Highland region
Householders - this includes people in all types of housing tenures (homeowners, private renters, council tenants, etc.)

We’re asking for your support in three ways:

Complete the survey yourself – if you live in Highland, your views matter.
Share the survey widely – please circulate it within your organisation and across your networks.
Encourage participation – help reach a diverse range of residents across all housing tenures and age groups.

The survey only takes around 5-10 minutes to complete, is fully confidential, and is open until 7th November 2025. It’s being carried out by independent researchers at Research Resource.

Take the survey online:

Do you think your home will meet your needs in 10 years time? Do you own your home or rent?

Age Scotland wants to hear from people over the age of 50 about their current housing situation and energy usage. It explores people’s future housing intentions, home accessibility needs, their local community, cost of living, paying for energy, and home energy efficiency measures.

Age Scotland regularly ask older people for their insight and experiences on important issues. It offers government, the media, decision makers and companies unique and powerful evidence to help inform their future policies and ensure that the needs of Scotland’s older population are heard.

You can find the survey here: https://www.agescotland.org.uk/our-impact/reports-research/surveys/housing-and-energy-survey?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2T0myqq8Y5PBO86Y9ad0r3sqajRsT9to3RKZaX6HySL90pyg_TPlmILcA_aem_kMB4JCIwVvTjDDumpdMBuA

Do you think your home will meet your needs in 10 years time? Do you own your home or rent? Share your insight and experiences in our national housing and energy survey. It asks people over the age of 50 living in Scotland about their current housing situation and energy usage.

National Speed Management Review - Online Engagement

Two online engagement events have been scheduled to provide information about the National Speed Management Review and proposed changes to speed limits in Scotland.
The National Speed Management Review seeks to ensure speed limits in Scotland are appropriate and contribute to reducing injury and death on our roads. It invites feedback on proposals to reduce the national speed limit on single carriageway roads from 60 mph to 50 mph for motor vehicles and to increase speed limits for goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on single carriageways from 40 mph to 50 mph, and on dual carriageways from 50 mph to 60 mph.
To support this consultation a series of in-person events have been scheduled. In addition to this, two online events will take place on:
Monday 24 February, 1330 hrs - 1430 hrs
Thursday 27 February, 1800 hrs – 1900 hrs
The online events will include a pre-recorded video presentation and afterwards there will be a question and answer session with the team involved in the review. We ask if you can pre-submit your questions via email to [email protected], however the team will also try to address questions asked in the chat.
To attend any of the online events, please sign up by visiting the Eventbrite page. The link to join the online event will be shared with registered attendees prior to the event. If you do not wish to register your attendance using Eventbrite, please contact [email protected] and let us know which online event you would like to attend. A link will then be shared with you prior to the event.
For those that are unable to attend an in-person or online event, all materials are available to view via the virtual exhibition room. To find out more about the National Speed Management Review, including details of all consultation events, please visit the consultation webpage. The final date to respond to this consultation is 5 March 2025.
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. I would be grateful if you could share this information within your local community.
