If you witness a badger crime, call 999 if it’s ongoing; 101 if it’s already happened & ask to speak to the Wildlife Crime Liaison Officer.

Too many people turning a blind eye because they believe myths about Badgers.

Be brave, stand up for Badgers, stand up for wildlife.

For far too long, there has been a belief that people who harm animals, particularly badgers, also harm people, with a number of these involved with domestic violence within the home.

Now, through analytical work carried out by the NWCU and supported by statistical information and reports from Badger Trust, this has been proven.

The clear picture emerging is that persons who harm badgers are likely to harm humans.

This is known as polycriminality.

A non-conviction in a wildlife crime case has far-reaching consequences, and we need to take action!

Inigo’s entire family was killed on the road. Can imagine how traumatic that must have been to see and for poor Inigo. Now in the best hands possible.

If you're a lonesome rescued baby weasel your greatest wish must be to at least have a pal for company at your rearing facility.

GINNY found by Sarah, transferred to us by Conanvets Dingwall, transported by Bev, only had to wait 24 hours before she was joined by INIGO whose entire family was killed on the road near Wick. He was uplifted hy Tiffany's daughter who was horrified to have witnessed the tragedy.

Careful introductions were needed to make sure that both weasel kits were happy with each other's company but we needn't have worried. They bonded quickly and have been chatting, playing, sleeping, and eating together since they met.

Same species company at this critical stage of their development is crucial for providing essential warmth, encouraging natural hunting behaviors through play, and prevents over attachment to human carers. It also ensures they develop vital social skills.

Their unique facial markings are very helpful for ID purposes, plus they each have some white toes 💚

Every centre we work with, every rehabber we collaborate with, and every organisation we support will tell you that they will HAPPILY share initial care requirements, handling best practices and containment guidance and unless specifically told to - DO NOT FEED, DO NOT PROVIDE WATER.

The Internet contains some good information and some duff, dangerous and contradictory information. The wrong approach can hurt, and even kill the patient.

For their sake - don't guess or Google, ask!

Thank you to Liz and Adrian for getting in touch for advice. Sadly, it was too late for this wee fawn, and she died soon after arrival having been without mum's milk for a prolonged period. The fact that she was given appropriate care after our phonecall meant she slipped away peacefully, not as a result of misguided actions.

It’s just heart breaking.

I read in a study today that global wildlife populations have declined on average by around 70% since 1970 with one million species at risk of extinction.

Please take care on the roads. You might just save a life through vigilance.

Heartbroken.... 😔 This poor roe fawn was born out of shock when his mother was hit by a car while heavily pregnant and she then gave birth to three fawns in the middle of the road, and then passed. His siblings were both born dead and a kind member of the public found this one barely breathing. They brought it to the centre, and even though our vet team did their best the fawn unfortunately did not make it. Please be careful on our roads, so many animals are breeding and foraging for their families this time of year.

This beautiful Poplar Hawk Moth was resting on a shed door today. They’re entirely nocturnal but obviously decided this was a good spot for a rest.

A little bit of good news from the Moray Coast. 🦔

My aunt is lucky enough to have some wonderful hedgehogs visiting and living in her garden, including this wee character.

Hedgehog numbers have declined dramatically across Scotland in recent years, so it’s always heartening to see them thriving in a safe, wildlife-friendly space where they can find food, shelter and protection.

Every garden can make a difference. Leaving wild corners, providing access between gardens, and avoiding pesticides can all help these much-loved visitors.

Long may this wee one continue to wander the garden after dark. 💚🦔
