A Date for your Diaries: two of us will be giving a talk to the Civic Society later this year!!

Welcome to our 2026 program of Tiverton Civic Society talks at Tiverton Town Hall. We kick off the season on Tuesday evening with a fabulous illustrated talk on Avian Photography from Andrew Hughes, wildlife photographer, local farmer and owner of the wildlife project at Backwoods Farm in Bickleigh.
Talks start at 7.30pm in the Mayoralty Room at The Town Hall, doors open from 7.00pm. Accessible access by lift. £5.00 for non-members or become a member of Tiverton Civic Society for just £12 a year and get access to all of our talks for free! (https://tivertoncivicsoc.org.uk/join/how-to-join-us/)
It is a great way to engage with your locality, meet new people and enjoy some top quality presentations on a wide variety of topics. Everyone welcome!

This afternoon we're crowded over a few detailed, enormous maps - making sure we know exactly who we need to (politely, of course!) ask for access in the continuation of our work.

Of COURSE we scheduled this on the first dry day of the year 😅

Valentine's Day celebrations have been postponed until this evening 💝

The Trustees wish you all a very happy (belated) Christmas, and the best wishes for a stupendous New Year!

We absolutely could not do this without all of you, our supporters - and it is often by reminding ourselves of the trust that you put in us to care for our Leat that gives us a Pick Me Up when things get challenging 🥲

(One of our 2026 resolutions is to be more On The Ball when it comes to social media....AHEM 📲)

2026 will see more in our work to get the Leat flowing again 💜 we're happy that you're following along!

We're at the Town Hall today - come and say hello! (and escape the rain 🌧)

We will be in Tiverton Town Hall today from 10.00am to 4.00 pm. Come and chat with us about the restoration of our historic leat. There will be a display of work undertaken so far and plans for the future.
Remember parking is free in the multi storey carpark and there are loads of fun events happening in the town leading up to the switching on of the Christmas lights.

If you missed our recent AGM we have news for you. Friends of Tiverton Town Leat will be in the Town Hall on Saturday November 22nd 10.00 – 4.00 and invite you to come and talk to us about our plans for the next phase of the restoration in 2026. We would especially like to meet residents who live along the line of the Leat and have experienced problems with flooding in the past. It is important to establish what occurred and the nature of the problems. Please come along and talk to us.

Sorry Joan I can see where the confusion arose but the meeting in November is for the Trustees of the charity. However you have sparked an idea that we may be able to negotiate to have a room in the Town Hall or in the market to put up a display and be on hand to answer questions.

So we have (pretty much) recovered from the AGM and are resurfacing - if you've asked us for Membership and/or Gift Aid forms, we'll be sending those out to you as soon as we can!

I'm sorry we ran out of membership application forms at the AGM yesterday. If you would like to become a member of FoTTL (which is free, and gives you the right to vote at AGMs and to stand for election as a Trustee) but didn't get a form, please email [email protected] and I will send you a form. All the applications for membership will be formally considered, as required by our rules, at our next meeting in early November. Thanks.
