Concern Worldwide is launching a brand new Pop Up Charity Shop on Castle Street, and we’re looking for someone to manage our shop and bring this exciting project to life. Forget what you know about traditional charity retail... we’re introducing a vibrant, dynamic new offering to the Derry City high street.

This is a unique opportunity and you could play a key role in shaping its success, building community connections and helping create a welcoming space that makes a real difference both locally and globally.

⭐Big congratulations to our bookshop colouring in competition winners ⭐

We're so excited to announce that pupils and staff from Fountain Primary School and Nursery Unit will be enjoying a class trip to the Guildhall, Derry next week with a tour from the Lord Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District! 🎉

This special prize was awarded to the talented pupils in recognition of their fantastic efforts and creativity, making our Someone Like Me template come to life, which tells the real-life story of Lucia from Haiti. 🌎

We hope they have a very special day and we can't wait to hear all about it! A massive thanks to the pupils for all the incredible entries received and here's just a few of our favourites, proudly displayed in our shop window! 💚

🎨It's not too late to enter our Concern colouring in competition! ✏️

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of our much-loved bookshop in the city, we are inviting school children to help us mark the occasion by entering our exciting creative competition.

The winning entry will get a special tour of the historic Guildhall for their class with The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh. We hope this will inspire creativity and a love of reading among our local young people.

To get a downloadable entry, send us a direct message and we will share it with you. Then simply colour in and drop it into our shop on Ferryquay Street.

Concern Worldwide’s second-hand bookshop on Ferryquay Street has marked its 10-year anniversary with a special visit from the Mayor of Derry Ruairí McHugh, local author Claire Allan, children from Fountain Primary School and the shop’s dedicated volunteers.

🎈Concern’s Bookshop on Ferryquay Street celebrates its 10th Birthday today on

Run by a committed team of 25 volunteers, our shop has sold an estimated 160,000 preloved books, raising more than £600,000 to support Concern’s humanitarian work worldwide.

Over the past decade, our shop has become a firm favourite for book lovers in the city and beyond in search of bargain reads. We want to thank all our incredible customers for their loyalty and support over the years.

We celebrated with a special visit from the Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Ruairí McHugh, Claire Allan Author and children from Fountain Primary School and Nursery Unit.
