Sometimes you can't explain it. You just know something doesn't feel right.

Perhaps your child has become more secretive. Their friendship group has changed. They're spending time with new or older people. You've noticed changes in their behaviour, mood or relationship with their phone.

There could be many explanations for these changes, and one sign alone doesn't necessarily mean a young person is being exploited.

But you don't need proof before asking for help.

If you're worried about a child or young person, starting a conversation and asking for advice can be an important first step.

At Safe and Sound, we're here to listen, understand what's happening and help you work out what support might be needed.

⚠️ Winter Fuel Payment scams often start earlier than people think.
Last year, criminals targeted UK adults between August and October, and this year is likely to be no different.

Remember, most Winter Fuel Payments are made automatically.
You should not need to apply, and you will never be asked to provide personal or banking details by text message or email.
Received a message you're unsure about?

Check it using the Ask Silver Scam Checker or visit GOV.UK for trusted information.

Flu in children can be unpleasant and lead to serious complications, but the flu vaccination is here to help.

Children aged 2–3 years, school children (Reception–Year 11), can now have their flu vaccination.

The vaccine is given as a quick, painless nasal spray – no injections required. It’s a simple way to protect your child and prevent the flu from spreading to vulnerable family and friends.

Check out our "what to expect guide" for more information.

⚠️ Scam Alert ⚠️

We have received reports of a potential scam operating in the area.

Individuals may knock on your door claiming they have lost their mobile phone and that the "Find My Phone" app is showing the device at your address. They may insist that their phone is inside your property and attempt to gain entry or pressure you into assisting them.

βœ… If this happens:

β€’ Do not allow anyone into your home unless you are satisfied with who they are and why they are there.
β€’ Speak through a closed door or use a doorbell camera where possible.
β€’ If you do not know the person, do not feel pressured to assist.
β€’ If they become persistent or you feel threatened, call the police immediately.
β€’ If a genuine phone has been lost, the owner can contact the police for advice rather than attempting to enter private property.

Please remember that mobile phone location services are not always accurate and can sometimes show an incorrect location.

If you have experienced a similar incident or have any information, please report it to us via 101 or online at www.derbyshire.police.uk. Always call 999 in an emergency.
