Why not join St Peter's Church Littleover on Saturday for their regular churchyard clear up? Free refreshments in the church afterwards too

We were distressed to hear of the mugging of two teenager girls in our churchyard on Friday. The response of The White Swan, Mrs C's Cafe and our local police was amazing - the girls were cared for and supported and following information from countless others in the village, two young men have been arrested.

It appears the young man involved came down the jitty from Barncroft direction and approached them sitting on a bench outside the church building, by the path.

We are grateful for the offers of help in maintaining our churchyard - this is usually done by a Community Payback Team, but they have had challenges with regular management, which means the grass has grown high in some places. We are grateful to CPT for their return and for help from church family, our wardens and others from the local community to try and get things back under control.

We have a Churchyard Clean-up every month and the next one is this Saturday 15 August from 9.30-12.30 - refreshments provided. Please chat to Chris who will there co-ordinating the work needed.

We also prayed throughout the churchyard and around the building on Sunday, as well as for the local community, for God's peace to rest on our life as a village. Violence and fear have no place in our streets and green spaces.
