✨ Monday Mention ✨

This week we are highlighting one of Linking Hope's committee members, Ben!

Read more about Ben's story below ⬇⬇

Throughout my life, I have struggled with my mental health. Every time I got low, I went through a new system to try and improve my mental health, and within 3 months of finishing the programme, I was back to square one.

I joined the Baton of Hope team to hope to change the narrative on the perception of mental health, and on the 13th of September, we brought the baton to Derby.

To be able to capture the day was one of the proudest moments in my life, and something I couldn’t have imagined I would do, something so meaningful and impactful to everyone who came along on the day.

Through my photography and videography business, I aim to continue to promote all the different individuals and groups helping out people when they need it the most.
Ben Collins, Head of Media Productions

After our first networking event, we wanted to continue asking the important questions.
One of the questions we asked at the event was 'What are the biggest obstacles/barriers in your work in su***de prevention/bereavement?'

We want to open that up to other charities/organisations/individuals through our social media platforms.

Comment below to let us know what are our biggest obstacles ⬇

✨ Monday Mention ✨

Our next Monday Mention is the Chat Club!

The Chat Club is CIC based at the Chatterbox Cafe in Allenton, Derby.
They are a free night time café that runs from 8:30pm - 10:30pm every Friday and Saturday for anyone whose feeling lonely or isolated.

They offer friendly and supportive chats.

One of their volunteers told us ' “The reason I come to volunteer at Chat Club is that when I was struggling with gambling addiction, I felt alone, I had nowhere to go in my mind. If I had something like chat club so I could talk to someone, make me feel less alone, it would have helped me feel listened to.

Seeing others who come through door remind me of my life many years ago, and using my life experience - I hope offering a friendly ear to listen, will help those who come through our doors”.
