A SPECTACULAR rare performance awaits the audience of Derby Bach Choir's April 25th concert. (poster displayed below )Not just one but TWO grand pianos, a wall of wind and brass players including 5 flutes, 5 oboes & 5 trumpets plus 4 bassoons and a contra bassoon. Also we'll use both cathedral organs and a harp1 A feast - to excite music lovers and music students from a wide region. Working alongside Derby Cathedral's music department, DBC will welcome both organists. Soloists from the choristers will be joining the choir to sing Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms will complete the evening with Richard Roddis conducting all forces.

Early Notice of next exciting concert.
'Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms (1930) is widely considered one of his greatest vocal masterpieces, a work of profound, unironic religious expression and a cornerstone of 20th-century music. Reviews consistently praise its unique instrumentation (no violins or violas, a large chorus, and a focus on wind instruments), neoclassical structure, and spiritual power. '
The programme includes two non choral interludes. A taste of Mozart ' Don Giovanni Highlights for Wind Ensemble' and some popular organ pieces played by the Cathedral organists.
All three modern works include sections of breathtakingly moving beauty.
