Forest Community Energy Supporting a greener Forest of Dean with community solar installations and running energy saving information events. We are more than an energy society.

We are a community of people who believe that the future of energy should be clean, fair, and locally owned. As a Community Benefit Society, we bring neighbours, friends, and partners together to create renewable energy projects that put the people of the Forest of Dean, and the planet, first. Our mission is about more than generating power – it is about empowering our community. Every panel we install and every project we launch helps cut carbon, tackle fuel poverty, and keep more of the benefits here, where they belong. We are owned and governed by our members, which means everyone has a voice. Decisions are made collectively, and the profits we generate are reinvested into local projects – from supporting families with energy costs to funding initiatives that strengthen our community. By working together, we are proving that renewable energy is not just possible – it’s powerful. It’s a way to take action on climate change, create resilience, and ensure that the benefits of the green transition are shared by all. We are a movement for a brighter, fairer, sustainable future – built by the community, for the community.

📢 Thermal Camera Loan Scheme transfers to Forest Community Energy

🔋The Thermal Camera Loan Scheme will now be operated by Forest Community Energy, ensuring residents can continue to benefit from the free service, which can help improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

🏘️Launched by Forest of Dean District Council in 2025, the popular scheme has helped households across the district identify where heat is escaping from their homes, highlighting opportunities to improve insulation, reduce energy use, lower household bills, & make homes more comfortable.

💚Forest Community Energy will now take on the day-to-day operation of the scheme, including overseeing camera loans & providing advice to help residents understand their thermal images & plan future home energy improvements.

Come and join us at a Climate Listening Café this month.

It's a welcoming, informal space where we can talk openly about our thoughts and feelings around climate change and nature loss. There are no talks, no advice and no pressure to come with answers. It’s simply a chance to share, listen and reflect together. All important stuff for building our resilience.
