Dartmoor can and should be a leader on being nature-positive, through creating a ‘Dartmoor standard’, backed by local government

Nature should be an active part of the community, taken into consideration for all decisions made

There’s an opportunity for people from all over and around the moor to get involved in taking care of nature restoration

People have many ways of connecting to the lane and nature on Dartmoor, and arts, heritage and community projects should be supported to strengthen those connections!

Dartmoor’s temperate rainforests and broadleaved woodlands are struggling to expand and regenerate

Great work has been done for a long time to revive our woodlands

But much more is needed - more resources, more support, more protection

Stand up for woodland with us, and watch this space for the Call To Action

Lisa is a storyteller, folklorist and environmentalist based in Devon 🔥

She seeks out, and shares, traditional stories about the land and our complex relationship with it, and works with creative storytelling to enable better connection with nature and landscape 🏞️

She is a founder member of South Devon Storytellers and runs Dartmoor Storytellers 🐞

Together with Sara Hurley, Lisa recently completed a major project on Dartmoor folk tales, Chasing Crockern 🧌

She is the author of four books: English Folk Tales of Coast and Sea, River Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland, Woodland Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland and Botanical Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland 🌸

Lisa trained as an ecologist and has twenty-five years of experience in British nature conservation 🦔
