🚙 Putting the training into practice!
Recently, members from 4x4 Response South East Wales got together for a day of practical off-road driver training.
Delivered in-house by our experienced members, the day gave Responders the opportunity to develop and refresh their skills across a variety of terrain — with plenty of opportunity to put the theory into practice!
Training covered vehicle control and off-road driving techniques, terrain assessment, safe winching, vehicle recovery and communication, all with an emphasis on operating safely, effectively and as a team.
For 4x4 Response, off-road training isn't about seeing how far we can push our vehicles. It's about understanding their capabilities and limitations, recognising hazards and making safe, considered decisions when conditions become challenging.

…these are the skills that help prepare our Responders to provide safe and dependable support when our user services call upon us.
Training is a big part of being a 4x4 Response volunteer, and days like this give members the opportunity to learn from one another, practise their skills and build confidence behind the wheel.
And judging by the photos, we may have had a little fun along the way too! 😄🚙
