A Torfaen young carer has received national recognition for the remarkable support she provides to her family after winning a prestigious Child of Wales Award.

Cwmbran High School pupil Olivia Furley, 14, was named Exceptional Young Carer at the Child of Wales Awards ceremony at Swansea Arena on Friday.

Olivia has helped care for her mum, Leanne, since shortly after her ninth birthday, when family life changed dramatically after Leanne began experiencing multiple seizures each day.

These groups are about so much more than having a little break. They provide a safe, fun space where young carers can relax, have fun, and build amazing friendships with others who understand their experiences.

🌟 What an amazing youth club right here in Pontymoile! 🌟

Based at Pontymoile Community Centre every Wednesday, the club gives young people a place to meet friends, have fun, try new things and get involved.

And there are some fab FREE trips and activities planned for this year too! 🎳🎡🎭

If you’ve never been before, why not come along and give it a try? Bring a friend, meet some new people and see what Pontymoile Youth Club has to offer! 💙

We really enjoyed our visit to the Gwent Carers Hub Open Day, along with some of the Young Carers Team. 💙

It was great to have the opportunity to meet everyone, find out more about the support available to carers across Gwent, and make new connections.
