Congratulations to our team - Lola, Mila, Benji and Charlie - who finished in 7th position out of 75 teams in this year's Chiltern 20 hiking competition run by Greater London North in a time of 4 hours 31 minutes.
The start and finish were at The Misbourne School in Great Missenden with eight checkpoints along the route.
This is the best result the 7th/12th Scouts, team name 'Trainspotters' have ever had and reflects their teamwork, navigation skill and commitment as well as speed of course ! Before the event the team completed a training hike in unfamiliar countryside to prepare them for hiking across the Chiltern Hills. It certainly paid off and will feature again next year when we make another determined effort to win the event.

There were 4 other teams from Croydon District which all finished: sole representatives of GLSW Scout County.

Good luck to our Scout team, the 'Trainspotters' who take part today in this year's Chiltern 20 hiking competition organised by Greater London Scout County. 120 teams are taking part in this 20 kilometre timed hike over the Chiltern Hills.

This weekend the Scouts will be participating in Jamboree on the Air. Our radio station will be operating from the Scout headquarters between 10 am and 4 pm thanks to members of Croydon Radio Club. Our call sign is GX3SRC and we shall be using 20 metre and 40 metre wavebands. All members of our Scout Group and other Groups will be very welcome and for the Scouts it will count towards the World Challenge Award. We hope to make many contacts across the globe and perhaps our Scouting friends in Sweden.

Last Saturday St Paul's URC was the venue for a Reunion to celebrate 50 years of Croham Valley founded in 1976 - Venture Scouts, Ranger Guides and Explorers. Some 70 people attended from near and far including friends from Swedish Scouting. For some it was the first time they had met since they were members of the Unit and so it was a great opportunity to catch up with their peers. There was plenty of food and some speeches from former and the current Leaders. The event drew to a close but some batted on at local hostelries way into the evening.

The toast was to 'Croham Valley, and another 50 years ' !

The 7th/12th Croydon Scout Group congratulates the Croham Valley Joint Unit/Croham Valley Explorers on the occasion of its 50th anniversary this Saturday. A Reunion of former members and Leaders will be held at St Paul's United Reformed Church to celebrate this milestone, and hear about plans for the future.

The Indoor Boot Sale at St Paul's on October 3rd raises funds for the Youth Council which in turn supports our Scout Group. This year we are hoping to have a stall selling unwanted items in good condition, but we need parents to organise it. If you can help please contact me, likewise if you want your own stall at a 'rent' of £8.

At this year's 100th anniversary Gilwell Reunion with my Scouting friend 'CJ' who just happens to be Deputy National Lead Volunteer !
I was in the Faith and Inclusion Zone manning the United Reformed Church Scout and Guide Fellowship stand.

Please support the South Croydon Charity Model Railway Show on Saturday September 12 from 10 am until 4.00 pm at St Paul's United Reformed Church, Croham Park Avenue, South Croydon, CR2 7HF. Lots to see and do with 20 layouts plus heritage railway and society stands, trade support, and pre-owned stalls. Hot and cold refreshments will be available all day.

What a week our Scouts have had so far at the Swedish Jamboree! 🇸🇪⚜️
They've been meeting Scouts from other countries, making new friends, trying new activities and sharing what Scouting is all about. It's been great to see them getting stuck in and making memories they'll never forget.
