Narsingdi (Bengali: নরসিংদী ) is a district in central Bangladesh.It is located 50 km north-east of Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division, and is the only district in Bangladesh that does not de

It is said that, in ancient time this area was ruled by a king named Narasinha. In the first of fifteen centuries the ancient king Narasinha sat up a small town west of river Old Brahmaputra named Narasinhapur. The word Narsingdi has derived form Narsinha. Later, Narsingdi district was included with Maheshardi province. This province was later ruled by Land Lord Isha kha afterward Sharif khan and Akhter khatun Ayasa. After the land lord system was abolished, Narsingdi was under Narayangaj District as a police station. In 1977 it was included under Dhaka District. In 1984, Narsingdi became a District along with Shibpur, Manohardi, Belabo and Raypura police station.
