WHO WE ARE
Aᴅᴅɪɴɢᴛᴏɴ Lᴏᴅɢᴇ was founded in 1929 under the auspices of Shirley Park Lodge No. 3938.
The name, Addington, covers the historical area of Croydon adjacent to Shirley which must have been in the minds of the Shirley Park Lodge members who were to become Founders of Addington Lodge.
Today we are a very friendly and convivial lodge, with both younger and more mature members. Many of our members come from the Addington area and its environs.
We approach the formal and social sides of Masonry with the same sense of enjoyment, which we think creates a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for new members.
Everyone who joins our lodge is able to participate as much or as little as they wish: allowing members to set their own level of involvement: whether it be learning and taking part in our ceremonies, visiting other lodges, enjoying the social side of things, raising donations & sponsorships for charity, or understanding more of the history of Freemasonry.
WHAT WE DO
From its earliest days, the lodge has raised money for good causes.
The lodge has over the decades raised money to support various charitable causes. In addition to masonic charities, the lodge has supported both local and national causes.
Our largest single donation was of £10,000 in 2007 to support a bid by Addington High School to become a Visual and Media Arts College in the Specialist School scheme.
OUR MEETINGS
We hold formal meetings at Croydon and District Masonic Hall, 73 Oakfield Road CR0 2UX in the afternoons on the
- first Saturday in March,
- fourth Saturday in April,
- third Saturday in October, and
- first Saturday in December.
All our meetings followed by a formal dinner held in the Masonic Hall.
